Sabrina Carpenter's latest hit single, 'Espresso,' is topping the charts, becoming her first number one on the global Spotify charts.
The song is being dubbed a hot girl anthem as Carpenter sings about being so hot that someone is addicted to you like 'Espresso.'
Due to its witty lyrics and catchy tune, it is quickly becoming one of the most popular songs in the world, even scoring number one globally.
'Espresso' Hits Number One On Global Spotify Charts
Carpenter's latest hit, which she sang live for the first time at Coachella, has dominated the charts and has become the latest TikTok sensation, with fans (and celebrities) jumping on the trend.
Credited with 31,200,075 global streams during the week of April 12-18, 'Espresso' arrived at number 8 on the weekly Global Spotify Chart. Now, just one and a half weeks later, it has risen to number one.
"Now he's thinkin' 'bout me every night, oh / Is it that sweet? I guess so / Say you can't sleep, baby, I know / That's that me, espresso / Move it up, down, left, right, oh / Switch it up like Nintendo / Say you can't sleep, baby, I know / That's that me, espresso," she sings in the song.
Sabrina Carpenter Explains Meaning Behind 'Espresso'
While the lyrics are catchy, what does the song actually mean? Well, the former Disney Channel star explained in an interview with Apple Music.
"There was something really exciting about the fact that there was so much personality throughout the entire song because those are the ones that are really, really fun to sing live with a crowd," she said. "Those are the ones that people, I think when they don't know my music or who I am or anything, they can just tune in to a single song and kind of leave with a better idea of my sense of humor."
'I'm Working Late, 'Cause I'm A Singer'
The most popular part of the song, and the latest TikTok trend, is the verse where Carpenter sings:
I'm working late 'cause I'm a singer
Oh, he looks so cute wrapped around my finger
My twisted humor, make him laugh so often
My honey bee, come and get this pollen
When talking about her latest hit, Carpenter went on to say, "This was one of those times in my life where it was just like, I just thought I was the sh-t in the moment. And I think you don't always feel that way, so you kind of have to capture those moments that you do because that's how you find those little."
While the former Disney Channel star may have thought it was "sh-t in the moment," fans clearly say otherwise!
Sabrina Carpenter Has A Caffeine Addiction
Another verse of the song goes, "Too bad your ex don't do it for ya / Walked in and dream-came-trued it for ya / Soft skin and I perfumed it for ya (yes) / I know I Mountain Dew it for ya (yes) / That morning coffee, brewed it for ya (yes) / One touch and I brand-newed it for ya."
The 'Feather' artist went on to admit, "For me, equating it to caffeine and that addiction was really fun, and I definitely have a caffeine addiction as it is. So it really ends up being a full circle for me."
'Espresso' is currently streaming on Spotify.
Sabrina Carpenter Hard Launches Relationship With Barry Keoghan
At Coachella, Sabrina Carpenter not only debuted her song 'Espresso,' but she also hard-launched her relationship with Barry Keoghan in her outro for Nonsense.
“Made his knees so weak he had to spread mine / He’s drinking my bath water like it’s red wine / Coachella see you back here when I headline.”
He was also caught filming Carpenter during her Coachella performance. Later that evening, as Ice Spice was performing, the duo hung out with Carpenter's close friend, Taylor Swift, and her boyfriend, Travis Kelce. Carpenter also recently went on tour with Swift.
The 'Looking At Me' singer and the 'Saltburn' actor first sparked dating rumors in late 2023 as they were spotted grabbing dinner together in Los Angeles. They have since been seen out together on various occasions.
The two then made their red carpet debut when they attended the Vanity Fair Oscars after party together.
