Elle King Performs At Stagecoach Festival Months After Drunk Dolly Parton Stunt

Elle King hit the stage at one of the biggest music festivals of the year, and it comes months after she received backlash for her drunken Dolly Parton performance.

Earlier this year, King, whose real name is Tanner Elle Schneider, daughter of actor Rob Schneider, performed at Nashville's Grand Ole Opry for Dolly Parton’s 78th birthday celebration in January 2024, and it was quite memorable, but not in a good way.

As The Blast has previously reported, the 'Ex's & Oh's' artist admitted she was “hammered” as she took the stage and attempted to sing a Dolly song. She apologized for the stunt and returned to the stage a few weeks ago.

More recently, she performed at the popular Stagecoach festival.

King performed several of her hit songs at Stagecoach on Friday, April 26.

She wore rose-colored sunglasses and a cropped purple blazer with orange flames. The blazer's back had the words “#1 Baddie.” She completed her outfit with a matching lilac skirt, which also featured orange flames on its side, and a pair of orange cowboy boots.

Her tattoos were on full display as she took center stage in front of a huge crowd.

It seems that Elle King is making her comeback. Fans are seemingly forgiving her for the drunken Dolly Parton performance and are once again rocking out to her performances.

"I love Elle King!" one fan wrote after watching King's Stagecoach performance.

"Jelly Role and Elle King killed it. That’s what we needed," another said.

Her Stagecoach performance comes three months after she made headlines after she performed at Dolly Parton’s 78th birthday bash inside the Grand Ole Opry.

“Hi, my name is Elle King. I’m f-cking hammered," she said, shocking the crowd. She then attempted to sing Dolly Parton’s 2001 hit ‘Marry Me,' but she could not remember the lyrics and decided to make up her own.

“I don’t know the lyrics to this thing in this f-cking town. Don’t tell Dolly ’cause it’s her birthday," she sang.

Two months after the stunt, King took to Instagram to address the controversial performance. “To everyone sending me love because I’m human and already talked to Dolly. I love you,” she wrote in an Instagram video. “To everyone who told me to k-ll myself, I love you too.”

The 'Baby Outlaw' artist has a history of drug and alcohol abuse. “I really like to drink and sing. I don’t want to get as drunk as I used to,” King told the San Diego Union-Tribune in February 2022. “It’s easier for me to say: ‘Yeah, I want to drink and party and [then] go on stage.’ I get nervous before I go on stage, [so] I have couple of drinks [first]. Drinking makes me less nervous about hitting the notes when I sing. If I don’t make them, it won’t sting as much.”

King claims her "destructive" marriage led her to use drugs as a method of coping.

“I was partying so hard to numb emotions that I couldn’t handle at the time. I realized it was just prolonging the inevitable of dealing with them. And what you have to do, unfortunately, is just feel them, and that sucks,” she told PEOPLE at the time.

“I thought that by doing drugs, it would buy me time to feel better. And when that wasn’t working, I just realized I was in this other cycle and that I was creating it myself," King added. "And I realized I needed to cut all the darkness out of my life.”

In 2020, King opened up about her sobriety. "I had a birthday a week ago. And it was a sober birthday, getting high on my own life," she told Variety at the time. "I’m doing a sober summer and looking at everything I put into my body, whether it’s food or sugar. I’m trying everything I can because what I was doing wasn’t working."
