In its lawsuit, the company Luxury Outdoor Solutions claims that it gifted Thompson several pieces of outdoor furniture, including club chairs, sofas, a coffee table, and an ottoman.

In exchange for the furniture, Thompson allegedly agreed, on June 31, 3023, to give the company a "minimum of 10-15 high-resolution images," exposure through posts on his Instagram page, where he would credit them, and also "editorial exposure" on the magazine Architectural Digest.

However, Thompson allegedly failed to do any of these after being "suspended for 25 games after testing positive for ibutamoren."

His breach of the contract caused the company to suffer damages amounting to $53,173, which is the total market cost of the outdoor furniture delivered to the athlete.

Earlier in January, the NBA announced the suspension of Thompson for 25 games without pay due to a violation of the league's anti-drug program. The Cleveland Cavaliers forward tested positive for the growth hormone stimulator Ibutamoren and muscle enhancer SARM LGD-4033 —substances that are banned by the NBA and are known to aid in building muscle mass.

The suspension commenced immediately and affected Thompson's participation in games until mid-March. The Cavaliers expressed disappointment but pledged support for Thompson during his suspension, emphasizing their commitment to the NBA/NBPA Anti-Drug Program.
