Kathryn Dennis and Thomas Ravenel, two stars of Bravo's reality show "Southern Charm," have had an on/off relationship for quite some time, and with kids thrown in the mix, the situation can get quite hairy. Here's a rundown of the biggest recent developments.
People.com
Dennis and Ravenel currently share custody of their two children, daughter Kensington, 4, and son Saint, 3, but that might not last much longer.

Problems seem to follow Ravenel like a plague. In 2007, Ravenel was indicted on federal drug-distribution charges - cocaine, to be exact. That's not something you want the kiddies to know about.
As a result of the drug indictment, he was suspended from his job as South Carolina state treasurer; he later resigned.

Dennis isn't perfect either, but she has been clean since 2016, when she entered a rehab facility.
She says that these days she keeps some distance from social events and parties, where drinking is common. She adds that her kids have been the ones who have helped keep her on the straight path:
"I can’t ever really put my finger on how, I guess the easiest way to describe it is, my children, every time I look at them and when I’m not with them I just scroll through photos on my phone like a weirdo."
"I could talk in circles about it, but really it’s my children."

Ravenel left "Southern Charm" in 2018 for -- wait for it -- allegations of sexual assault against him.
In September 2018, Ravenel was arrested and charged with assault and battery.
Entertainment Tonight says Ravenel hasn't entered a plea yet.

A former nanny for the children, Dawn, levied the allegations against Ravenel. Dawn also appeared on "Southern Charm."
But it gets better. Ravenel also has what People calls an "on-off" relationship with girlfriend Ashley Jacobs, who also is not expected to return to "Southern Charm."

Dennis is apparently using those same sex assault allegations against Ravenel in their custody fight.
People wrote last December that Dennis referenced the allegations in her argument that he's not a fit parent. People adds that in 2017, a court-appointed doctor said both parents were deemed fit. Those recent allegations against Ravenel may just change that ruling.
Ravenel, in turn, filed a counterclaim on Nov. 6 in which he denies the allegations made by Dennis.

Dennis has also said that Ravenel admits to sometimes locking the kids in their room at night, an act that Dennis says is a safety concern.
In addition, she says he has sometimes mixed alcohol with prescription drug use while he was in custody of the kids.

Dennis, according to a profile in Entertainment Tonight, has been busy cleaning out a lot of baggage in the form of gifts Ravenel gave her, like jewelry and clothes.
"I just don't want that in my life now, you know what I mean?" she says, according to the site.
"I'm in a new place and I just, I don't know ... it's actually made me a lot happier."
Their fight stretches back years. Whatever the outcome, we just hope everyone involved does what's best for the children, who are the innocent ones in all this.
