Cooper And 'Mr. Sexy Zoom Man' Tie The Knot In Mexico

Cooper, 29, and Kaplan, 40, were married earlier this month in Riviera Maya, Mexico. The couple famously met in 2020 on a Zoom call. Podcast listeners, aka the Daddy Gang, were privy to details of Cooper’s relationship, but in order to give Kaplan privacy, Cooper only coyly referred to him as “Mr. Sexy Zoom Man” until his identity was revealed in 2023.

Cooper Was Unsure About Marriage

Cooper spilled the tea on their romantic engagement in an interview with W.

“Matt and I had talked about having kids together, but I was always unsure if marriage was something that I wanted. Growing up, I never wanted to conform to something that society is telling us: to get married to a man and live happily ever after. So many marriages in my life are so unhealthy and unstable. A lot of people settle, and I refuse to do that,” she said.

“But with Matt, it immediately was obvious to me, once our relationship progressed to the point that it was time, that yes, I would love to marry him. We went to a date night at Giorgio Baldi in November, and I told him that he could propose whenever he wanted. He was beaming, because he had accepted that maybe we wouldn't get married.”

Proposal Was A Surprise

After that fateful date, Kaplan began planning his proposal.

“We were doing what I thought was a shoot for W at my studio in West Hollywood. I remember the shoot feeling like it had no direction, and I could tell everyone was stalling. Little did I know that this was a fake photoshoot that my publicist and Matt set up to keep me out of the house, out of my sweatpants, and in hair, makeup, and nails so I’d feel happy with the photos. When I came home that night, my entire house was covered in candles, lit all over, music playing, and a scavenger hunt leading to Matt proposing.”

Wedding Was Intimate Experience For Friends And Family

Their wedding was just as beautiful and heartfelt as their engagement. They told Vogue they wanted the wedding to be an intimate experience with close family and friends.

“‘We weren’t looking to have a formal wedding. We wanted it to feel relaxed and authentic to us and the location, so from the decor to the festivities it all was very naturally curated,’” Kaplan said.

“‘We wanted to choose a destination that was private, romantic, and felt like a vacation for not only us but all of our guests,’” Cooper continued. “‘It was really important to us to keep the guest list small so we could be present with each other and the people who we love the most and who have helped us become who we are today.’”

Cooper Bucks Tradition At Wedding

In true “Father Cooper” fashion, as she’s affectionately known by CHD listeners, she bucked tradition with a few details. The couples’ beloved goldendoodles, Henry and Bruce, served as ringbearers. And Cooper chose to walk down the aisle alone.

“‘At the beginning of wedding planning, I really rejected the concept of being walked down by a man to be handed to another man. Although to clarify I have such an incredible relationship with my father and both of my parents—it wasn’t about that. To me personally, I just never loved that tradition. It’s old and antiquated. My mom also walked herself down the aisle, so in a sense, I guess we are creating our own tradition for the women in our family.’”

All in all, the entire day was exactly what the couple imagined.

“‘It was everything we wanted it to be. It was emotional, heartfelt, and we tailored it to exactly how we always envisioned it,’” said the bride.

Cooper and Kaplan’s union isn’t just of the romantic kind. It’s also in business, as the two are the cofounders and co-CEOs of Trending Media Company, a media company that targets Gen Z audience.
