Gerry Turner And Theresa Nist Call It Quits
On Friday, April 12, Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist, who met on the first season of 'The Golden Bachelor,' announced they had decided to divorce just three months after their wedding.
“Theresa and I have had a number of heart-to-heart conversations,” Turner began on Friday’s episode of 'Good Morning America.' “We’ve looked closely at our living situations, and we’ve kind of come to the conclusion mutually that it’s time for us to dissolve our marriage."
Kaitlyn Bristowe Is 'So Sad' For Gerry Turner And Theresa Nist
Turner added, “The things that strike me the most in our conversations, it’s been how dedicated both of us are to our families. So, we look at these situations and I think we just feel like it’s best for the happiness of each of us to live apart.”
Bristowe, who attended the 'Golden Wedding,' which aired in January, took to her Instagram Stories to share her thoughts on the news.
“I’M SO SAD FOR THEM,” 'The Bachelor' alum wrote in her Instagram Story on Friday, April 12.
She recently went through a breakup of her own, as she and Jason Tartick decided to end their engagement last year.
Ashley Iaconetti Calls Gerry Turner Divorce News 'B.S.'
Following the 'GMA' interview, 'The Bachelor' alum Ashley Iaconetti called the divorce news "B.S."
“I think a lot of the 'Good Morning America' interview was B.S. because you don’t say, ‘We’re still in love with each other,’ and then get divorced. You just don’t,” she said via her Instagram Stories. “If it’s a distance thing — at their age especially — live in Indiana, live in New Jersey, visit each other once or twice a month … Be in love, be married but, like, you know, commute to each other. I don’t buy [it]. I don’t buy that the moving thing is the reason they got divorced three months in.”
During the 'GMA' interview, Turner claimed, “I still love this person, there’s no doubt in my mind. I root for her every day.”
Ashley Iaconetti Says She 'Didn't Feel Anything' During 'Golden Wedding'
Turner and Nist exchanged vows during the televised wedding, bringing tears to the room.
“I promise to choose you, every day, as the one I love, and never take your heart for granted. I promise to shout the 'I love yous' by day, and whisper them softly at night," Turner said. "I promise to keep you safe. And I promise to make you feel comforted in difficult times and abundantly joyful in great times.”
In Nist's vows, she told Turner, "I love your heart and your soul. I love your smiles and your laughter. We have so much fun together, we laugh until we cry. I promise to be calm in the storm, to comfort you when you're sad, to laugh with you when you're happy, and to stick with you throughout it all, but most of all, to have fun."
Iaconetti attended Turner and Nist's televised wedding and recalls she "didn't feel anything" between the two.
“When I came back from the 'Golden Wedding,' my friend Naz [Perez] wanted me on the 'I Don’t Get It' podcast to talk about it, and I said, ‘No, I can’t because I didn’t feel anything,’” she recalled.
