Gisele Bündchen Says Modeling Never Defined Her
Despite being one of the highest-paid models in the world, the 43-year-old doesn't let that "define" her.
“I’m not a model. Modeling is a job that I do, a career that I’ve had," she told Vogue. "It allowed me to see the world, and I was well-paid for it. But it never defined me.”
Since ending her time on the runway, the former Victoria’s Secret angel is now involved in environmental activism and philanthropy work, and supports causes related to conservation and children’s health. She has lent her voice, time, image, and money to environmental causes.
She even went on to star in National Geographic’s documentary series ‘Years of Living Dangerously’.
“There are enough signs that we can’t keep going in this direction,” she told the magazine when speaking on the documentary. “People forget that without a healthy environment, there are no healthy humans, because last time I checked, our life depends on the health of our planet, period.”
She concluded, “At the end of the day, the Earth will be fine. If we are gone, she’s going to regenerate herself. So we have to think about how we’re going to survive on it. How can we have the least impact?”
Gisele Bündchen Almost Died During A Photoshoot In Iceland
On a recent appearance on 'The Tonight Show', Bündchen revealed that she almost died when shooting a campaign with Oxygene.
"It was for this fragrance called Oxygene. You got to Google it," she told Jimmy Fallon, "You can see it actually. It's on the internet. It's called Oxygene was the name of the fragrance."
The photo shoot was taken "on a fake iceberg in Iceland and [she] almost fell off into the ocean."
If she had fallen in, she said, "I would have been dead in seconds."
