Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly are adamant about keeping their bond alive despite rumors of trust issues.

Meanwhile, a previous revelation about their unique living situation offers a glimpse into the dynamics of their relationship.

Sources close to the couple revealed a rollercoaster of emotions, where tumultuous romance seems to be the norm. Since the pair's journey began against the backdrop of a movie set, the rollercoaster nature of their relationship has kept everyone guessing. 

Although the sparks between Fok and MGK first flew on the set of "Midnight in the Switchgrass" in March 2020, there is a troubled dynamic filled with "trust issues and toxicity," as sources revealed.

An insider familiar with their situation explained, "There are still a ton of trust issues between them, and it's very toxic. They can't stay away from each other and there's a lot of history there, but they also don't know how to be in a healthy relationship." 

In addition, the couple's pattern of emotional turbulence was also said to be fluctuating in nature. "They'll be totally fine, then days later get into a huge blowout fight and not talk for weeks, but then give in and be all lovey-dovey again," a source shared with PEOPLE.

It was also noted that while the intensity that fueled their connection continued for four years, concerns about how well it could be sustained lingered. 

As the duo navigated the highs and lows of their romance, their public declarations of love added another layer of complexity. 

MGK even once professed on The Howard Stern Show in September 2020 that he did not truly understand love until meeting the actress. He described their connection as instantaneous, in his words, "I did fall in love for the first time."

In November of that same year, Fox echoed his sentiments, likening their bond to forces of nature. She described it as having "mythic proportions" and compared loving him to being "in love with a tsunami or a forest fire."

It was also noted that Fox had even sought solace in the company of others, with insiders revealing that she had asked friends "to set her up" with potential suitors.

The Blast reported that during an interview on the "Call Her Daddy With Alex Cooper" podcast, Fox delved into the emotional complexities surrounding her the father-of-one's decision to undergo such a profound tattoo transformation. 

While she chose to respect MGK's privacy by withholding specific details, she emphasized the emotional weight the tattoos carried. Fox hinted at the depth of MGK's internal struggles when she shared:

"The relationship with the tattoos that he had was very conflicted emotionally, whatever they represented -- and I don't actually know -- but he didn't like to revisit those memories of some of the tattoos that he had and he wanted to get rid of them."

Fox marveled at her beau's resilience and extraordinary pain tolerance despite the pain and discomfort expected in such an extensive tattoo process. 

She also acknowledged the spiritual significance of the experience, referring to it as a "spiritual initiation."
