In light of her recent shock cancer diagnosis, it is worth sharing how the kind princess once donated locks of her hair to children suffering from the disease.

The future queen reportedly chopped off seven inches of her own hair in 2018 to give to the Little Princess Trust, a nonprofit that provides youngsters with cancer treatment-related hair loss with lifelike wigs.

According to the Daily Mail, she is believed to have gotten the idea after getting a haircut at Kensington Palace from hairdresser Joey Wheeler.

A source at the time claimed, "Four months ago, Joey persuaded her it was time to take off some of her hair; he said it was just getting too long."

They added, "While Joey was snipping away, the idea came to her of doing some good with it rather than throwing it away. She mentioned it to Joey, who thought it was a brilliant idea. It was sent using someone else's name so that the trust didn't know it was from a royal source – they just thought it was from a female donor in the Kensington area."

The source further noted: "It's lovely to think somewhere a little girl is happily wearing a wig made from a real princess's hair. It's a very heartwarming thing for Kate to have done, and very thoughtful to use hair that would have otherwise just been thrown away."

With the announcement of her cancer diagnosis, it's possible that Kate might be out of the public eye for much longer than initially expected.

When she first went private in January, Kensington Palace released a statement saying that the princess was "unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter."

The palace reiterated this expected date in another statement released on February 29th, when tons of rumors about her health being more severe and Kate going missing spread online. As such, many fans speculated on social media that Kate's first appearance post-surgery would be at the annual royal family Easter church outing. However, it's not sure if that will still be the case.

Since then, Kate has only been spotted a few times in public, with most people speculating that the sightings were actually of body doubles. However, on Thursday, the palace revealed that she's actually been working on some of her Royal duties and other projects from her home in Windsor with William and the kids.
