Cara Delevingne has finally addressed the terrifying fire that raged through her Los Angeles home early Friday morning.
The renowned model was out of town on business when the massive flames tore through her property.
It reportedly took firefighters about two hours to contain the fire. Following the ordeal, Delevingne thanked everyone involved but raised concerns about her cats' well-being.
Cara Delevingne's 'Heart Is Broken' Over Home Fire But Thankful For Her Cats
The "Suicide Squad" actress addressed the horrific fire on her Instagram Story, with the first post capturing her two Persian cats. She seemingly implied the stunning felines were injured or had perished in the fire with the regretful words:
"My heart is broken today… I cannot believe it. Life can change in a blink of an eye. So cherish what you have."
Next, Delevingne shared a video of numerous fire trucks outside her Los Angeles property and expressed her gratitude to these brave firefighters in the third post. Her message read:
"Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all the firefighters and people that have showed up to help."
As for her cats, the runway superstar clarified the white furry duo are safe. She shared another pic of the adorable Persian species on their cat tree house alongside the words: "They are alive!! Thank you to the firefighters [red heart emoji]."
The Cause Of The Fire Remains A Mystery
As stated, the Los Angeles Fire Department faced a considerable challenge with the fire at Delevingne's home. The flames reportedly began around 3:52 AM, while the call for help came in at about 3:57 AM PST.
Firefighters subsequently rushed to the scene and realized that some type of backroom on the property had caught fire. It remains unclear what caused the flames, but it was so overwhelming and fast-moving that it almost overtook the property.
Parts of Delevingne's roof collapsed, and firefighters reportedly took around two hours to contain the raging flames. Unfortunately, not all of the responders safely escaped the devastating incident.
Some Injuries Were Recorded At The Scene Of The Fire
According to a source, there is one confirmed victim from the fire outbreak. An emergency official reportedly fell from a ladder and sustained some injuries while attempting to control the fire.
It is unclear how severe the firefighter's injuries are, but he wasn't alone as an occupant of Delevingne's home also needed medical attention for smoke inhalation.
A total of 94 firefighters in 13 different fire trucks were present at the scene to fight the blaze. Additionally, there were four ambulances present in case of any medical emergency.
While firefighters and emergency responders tackled the flames, Delevingne was safely away in England. She had been performing at the Playhouse Theater all week, making her stage debut in the musical "Cabaret."
The Fire Comes A Year After Delevingne Achieved Sobriety
Despite the massive fire being a terrible loss for Delevingne, it did not overshadow the significant milestones she has achieved in the past year. Last July, the model opened up about her sobriety journey and how one bad photo changed her life.
Fans may recall the "Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets" star sparked concerns about her well-being following the unflattering video and pictures taken by a media outlet.
She looked distressed and disheveled as she wandered around Van Nuys Airport in Los Angeles barefoot.
These viral 2021 posts were an urgent wake-up call for Delevingne, helping her reflect on her addiction and mental health struggles. Part of the journey involved giving up alcohol, which she claimed has been "worth every second."
Delevingne Said Life Is Easier Thanks To Sobriety
Raving about her decision to stay sober, the 31-year-old said: “It hasn’t [been easy], but there have never been moments when I’m like, ‘This isn’t worth it.’” She continued:
"It’s been worth every second. I just don’t know what it would take for me to give it up. I am stable. I’m calmer."
Delevingne noted that coming clean about her struggles gave her a profound sense of relief, admitting, "For a long time, I felt like I was hiding a lot from people who looked up to me. I finally feel as though I can be free and myself fully."
The runway star also credited her successful sobriety journey to her girlfriend, Minke, whom she began dating in 2022. Gushing about her positive influence, Delevingne chimed:
"Being with my girlfriend, in this relationship, there are just so many things that came at once that have made me so happy and comfortable with who I am."
