Known for stopping celebrities and random bystanders on the streets of New York City, Kamara is always armed with his questions - “Describe your fit?” and “Can you give a styling tip?” Being at the rodeo was no different.

His popular social media page, "The People Gallery" highlights all different fashion styles, "uniting the world one fit at a time," as listed on his TikTok page. With more than 1 million followers on TikTok and 429,000 on Instagram, he's certainly catching a lot of attention.

While at the rodeo, Kamara interviewed rodeo goers, local artisans, and performers about their outfit inspiration and styling tips.

Maurice Kamara Predicted Trends At RodeoHouston

As far as what Kamara predicted would be trends for this year’s RODEOHOUSTON, he said it’s all about the accessories.

“For the fit to stand out, the accessories need to come correct,” he explained. “The hats, belt buckles, boots, etc. can make or break an outfit.”

And while the rodeo crowd’s fashion differs from Kamara’s usual fashion scene, he said he sometimes sees “subtle nods” to it in NYC.

“They are completely different, but you can see some subtle nods to it in NYC,” he said. “Every so often, you see a shoe or accessory that is Western-inspired. The best part about an outfit is when people make it seem effortless and not forced. You don’t want to feel like you are wearing a costume, no matter where you are.”

Maurice Kamara Was Happy To Partner With Crown Royal

Kamara was excited to be working with Crown Royal and bring "The People Gallery" to RODEOHOUSTON.

“It’s a great opportunity to be working with Crown Royal to spotlight some of the best-dressed people at the Rodeo,” he told The Blast.

“At the end of the day, fashion is a creative expression and I really enjoy seeing and showing how people express themselves through fashion on my page.”

The Crown Royal Saloon & Showroom was helping to keep rodeo traditions alive and well, and that’s something that Kamara really enjoyed.

“I like that Crown Royal encourages individuality,” he said. “It’s pretty cool that attendees can stop by the Saloon to enjoy a Crown Royal cocktail while they get their hats reshaped and accessorized.

Crown Royal, rooted in generosity, will donate up to $20,000 to Magpies and Peacocks, the national only 501 (c)3 non-profit design house dedicated to the collection and sustainable reuse of post-consumer clothing, during Black Heritage Day weekend and Go Tejano Day weekend.

Various sustainability efforts were featured during RODEOHOUSTON. At the Saloon & Showroom, there were one-of-a-kind reimagined Crown Royal purple bag hat bands and a visual merchandise display showcasing the rising popularity of Western wear. During the two weekends, guests can share a symbolic hats-off gesture to trigger a $1 donation to the organization.

“Paying it forward is how we leave our mark on the world. Crown Royal embodies this spirit of giving, aiming to support those who make Houston thrive,” Kamara said.

“It’s awesome that rodeo attendees dropping by the Crown Royal Saloon & Showroom this weekend can activate donations simply by tipping their hat. It’s a small gesture with a big impact, and that’s pretty special.”

Kamara got his start in fashion working in retail and worked his way up from there. His focus has been on “building a platform that celebrated my love for fashion and the people that make it great.” And he’s not stopping there.

“New York is a great place to connect with people in that space and build your network,” he said. "I am looking to branch out my platform to YouTube and also create some merch items.”

As for Kamara’s favorite styling tips, he suggests investing in leather goods and accessories.

“They always make everything look better,” he told The Blast. “Also, invest in good shoes. I am a huge shoe guy, and they can really make or break what you are wearing.”
