Corey Feldman’s Ex Courtney Files For Spousal Support And Dissolution Of Marriage

Actor Corey Feldman's estranged wife, Courtney Anne Mitchell, has finally responded to his legal separation request. However, she shares a different story.
According to legal documents obtained by The Blast, Mitchell's response shows that she is ready for a full-blown divorce instead of preserving their nearly seven-year marriage. Their divorce may lead to court drama as she wants spousal support, which Feldman refused to pay.
Corey Feldman's Estranged Wife Requests Dissolution Of Their Marriage
Mitchell's request to dissolve her marital bonds to Feldman was filed on February 19 at the Superior Court of California in the County of Los Angeles. Per the legal documents, she specified the duo's date of marriage as November 22, 2016, but listed their date of separation as T.B.D (to be determined).
This contradicts Feldman's statement in his legal separation filing, as he listed their date of separation as "June 22, 2023." Legally separating from one's spouse leaves the union intact while preserving some of the benefits of marriage, like medical insurance; however, Mitchell isn't interested.
She ticked Hollywood's most common reason for divorce, "irreconcilable differences," meaning she could no longer see eye to eye with her estranged beau. Since the pair share no children, child support is not an issue, but spousal payments appear to be.
Corey Feldman's Ex Demands Spousal Support
In her request for divorce, "The Lost Boys" star's ex implored the court to award her rights to spousal support. She also requested the termination of Feldman's ability to receive the same treatment.
Mitchell has no plans on paying for anything in the dissolution of her marriage as she pushed the payment of her attorney fees and other costs to her estranged husband.
Her requests continued, as she plans to keep whatever she earned during the almost seven-year union. She asked the court to treat her assets as "separate property," noting:
"The full nature and extent of respondent's separate property is currently unknown. Respondent will provide an itemization upon completion of discovery and disclosure."
Feldman Wanted A Separation And Hoped To Skip Spousal Support
Last September, Feldman filed for legal separation from Mitchell and asked a Los Angeles County Court judge to terminate her right to spousal support. It wasn't clear if the pair had a prenuptial agreement; however, he noted they had "separate property."
"There are various community and quasi-community property assets and debts. The precise nature, location, and extent are currently unknown," the document explained, echoing similar sentiments as Mitchell's response to the filing.
A month before Feldman's legal separation request, the estranged couple announced their split in a joint statement. They claimed they had broken up over their differences, writing:
"We have been through so much together and still have much love and respect for each other. There is no one to blame. This is a case of life becoming really hard, Courtney dealing with health issues, and two people who have grown apart and now find themselves at a crossroads."
Feldman Proposed To Mitchell With An Adorable Note
Six years before Feldman and Mitchell's separation, the duo made waves for their blossoming relationship. In November 2016, the "Stand by Me" raved about the adorable way he popped the big question.
The former couple were in Palm Springs at Two Bunch Palms Resort when Feldman proposed with a middle school-style note. He recalled the exciting moment to PEOPLE, admitting he used the written method out of nervousness.
"So I kinda chickened out and did a written proposal by writing a note with two check boxes, one for yes and the other for no," he explained. "Of course, there was a ring in there with the note. Luckily, she said 'yes!'"
A Former President Influenced His Proposal
Before "The Goonies" popped the big question, he and Mitchell had been dating for a long time. The pair were celebrating their 4th anniversary at Two Bunch Palms Resort when he proposed.
Recalling Mitchell's reaction to the engagement, Feldman said: "She was very surprised, excited, and started crying. She was surprised because we had both been so anti-marriage since we met."
While the Hollywood veteran was excited to tie the knot to his then-lover, he confessed that he proposed partly out of fear of Donald Trump's regime. In his words:
"But seeing as she's Canadian and with [Donald] Trump coming in, we didn't want to risk being separated by new immigration laws."
