Dana White Puts Reporter On Blast For Questioning Conor McGregor
By Kelly Coffey-Behrens on March 13, 2024 at 2:15 PM EDT
UFC President Dana White was asked about Conor McGregor's future at a recent press conference, and he was not having it.
Conor McGregor has not fought in the UFC since July 2021, when he broke his leg against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. He has, however, appeared on 'The Ultimate Fighter' as a coach against UFC star Michael Chandler. The tradition is after 'TUF' comes to an end, the two coaches headline a UFC card in the coming months.
However, fans are still waiting for McGregor to step into the Octagon alongside Chandler despite the constant teasing from both fighters.
Reporters are trying to get answers from the UFC President, but it seems Dana White is not having it.
Conor McGregor's Possible Upcoming Fights
The Irishman has confirmed he has plans to fight both Michael Chandler and Nate Diaz. When speaking on his next fight, whenever that may be, McGregor said, "Still holding hope for June 29. Lack of action on it, however, is now causing lack of enthusiasm. I need a decision soon."
He added, "I am the most tested athlete under this new regime. Yet no date to fight. The game is a bit lackluster also at present, which isn't helping. I hope these next few cards pop and I get a date. Eliminate distractions and begin real work towards it."
Dana White Talks Conor McGregor's Future
The reporter heard in the video [below] mentioned how 'The Ultimate Fighter' ended in August, adding "I can't imagine the plan was for him to be out as long as he's been." So, when the reporter asked what the hold-up is with Conor Mcgregor, Dana White gave two reasons.
"First problem was he broke that shin bone, and he was recovering from that," White began, before stating the obvious -- "The other problem is he's f---ing rich. Conor Mcgregor doesn't need money."
In other words, for those who are unaware, when fighters agree to a UFC fight, they obviously get a big paycheck. The more they win and the better they perform, the more money they are offered for future fights. So, what White is saying is, with McGregor having a net worth of roughly $200M, he doesn't need a UFC paycheck.

The reporter didn't give up and followed up, asking if McGregor may never fight for the UFC again, to which White then put the reporter on blast.
"If you had a s--- load of money, would you be sitting here right now asking me this f---ing question?" The reporter hesitated and said "no," to which White immediately said, "No you would not. That just answered your question."
Asking for clarification, the reporter said, "So, there's a chance McGregor will not fight again for the UFC?" but White would not give a definite answer as he said, "I don't know."
Conor McGregor Speaks On Michael Chandler Fight
This comes just days after Conor McGregor confidently said he hopes to close out International Fight Week with a match against Michael Chandler.
"I'm hoping to get it. You can tell Hunter [Campbell], your man, that you know to start to get the ball rolling," he said when promoting his new 'Road House' movie, in which he stars alongside Jake Gyllenhaal. "I've got this workload here, a lot of press, a lot of partying at St Patrick's [Day]."
Michael Chandler Isn't Shy About Calling Conor McGregor Out
UFC fighter Michael Chandler recently took to Twitter to address the possible fight with his 'The Ultimate Fighter' opponent.
"This is going to be a special camp for me. I’ve never been away from competition this long in the last 22 years of hand-to-hand combat. Laying a foundation now," Chandler wrote, adding, "I break him within two rounds. 114 days."
With that timeline, it seems he plans to fight McGregor in June, which adds up with what the Irishman told reporters recently. "June 29," he told a reporter when asked for a date. "June 29. – yeah, call that."
Dana White Says Conor McGregor Is 'One Of The Best Business Partners'
This is not the first time Dana White has been asked about Conor McGregor. In the past, he has admitted that "Conor McGregor has probably been one of the best business partners we've ever had."
However, "Getting Conor to show up to s---* on time is a problem."
White followed up by saying, "But Conor, as far as the business goes, everybody talks about how Conor used to be on the dole and all this stuff. For a guy that was on the dole, Conor McGregor is a very good businessman, and Conor McGregor has always been a great partner to us."
