When introducing the stars and the nominees of the 2024 Oscars, Jimmy Kimmel touched on 'Oppenheimer''s success, a film for which RDJ was nominated.

"Congratulations to [Cillian Murphy's] costar Robert Downey Jr. This is the highest point of Robert Downey Jr.'s career," Kimmel said as the camera panned to the Marvel actor. Kimmel then added, "Well, one of the highest points."

At first, it seemed that RDJ laughed off the joke as he was seen pointing to his nose, acknowledging the host of the Oscars as the audience applauded and smiled in the background.

However, fans couldn't help but notice Emily Blunt, who starred alongside RDJ in 'Oppenheimer' and was seated right behind the actor, reached out and touched RDJ's shoulders, as he looked a bit uncomfortable.

But the jokes didn't stop there, as Kimmel added, "Was that too on the nose or was that a drug motion you made?"

And that is when the actor seemingly had enough as he motioned "wrap it up" and mouthed, "keep it going" back.

RDJ had struggled with drug addiction for nearly his entire life, which first began when he was 6 years of age when his father gave him drugs. While the recovery process took years, the 'Iron Man' actor has been sober since 2003, and he even landed his first Oscar win for Best Supporting Actor for his iconic work in 'Oppenheimer.'

Kimmel continued to poke fun at RDJ despite the actor telling him to "wrap it up," as he then joked "Look at this guy, he's so handsome, so talented. He's won every award there is to win. Is that an acceptance speech in your pocket or do you just have a very rectangular p---s?"

While Steve-O didn't watch the Oscars, he said he followed the news about it and is aware of the backlash Jimmy Kimmel has received over his joke toward Robert Downey Jr. When asked about his stance, Steve-O says people should just let it go.

"I think that it's going to come to a point where nobody wants to host award shows anymore," Steve-O said of the criticism. "It's a thankless job."

"People get bent out of shape over everything," he added.

The 'Jacka--' star, who also has a history of addiction, went on to say that "if the guy [has] a history of substance abuse, [then] he's got a history with substance abuse."

"We spend enough time reminding ourselves and each other about [the addiction] so we can stay sober, so what's the problem if somebody else does that?" the entertainer added.

When TMZ asked Steve-O if he thought a line was crossed, or if he thinks Jimmy Kimmel should apologize, the comedian responded, "I do not" to both.

"Hey, you know what? Let's not take ourselves too seriously," Steve-O went on. "Let's let comedians tell jokes and let's just be grateful for having great lives."

While he admitted that he "personally doesn't like to offend people" and he "likes to make myself the bud of my own jokes," Steve-O's one final plea to the public is to just "let people be funny."

Robert Downey Jr. has yet to comment on the joke made by Jimmy Kimmel at the 2024 Oscars, but he did thank his “terrible childhood" during his acceptance speech for Best Supporting Actor. “I needed this job more than it needed me," the actor said, adding, "I stand here before you a better man because of it.”
