According to sources close to the situation, Tom Brady was reluctant to end his marriage to Gisele Bündchen because he feared facing a challenging co-parenting experience once again.

The insider revealed to the Daily Mail that "Tom would agree that co-parenting hasn't been easy."

"There has been a lot of love lost in their relationship, and navigating through that and their careers and finding new love has not been easy," the source added. "It is safe to say that Tom and Gisele never expected to break up."

Brady also shares a son, Jack, 16, with his ex-partner Bridget Moynahan, with whom he had challenges in co-parenting following their split in December 2007.

The source emphasized the NFL star's hesitance towards divorce, adding: "He never wanted to divorce, especially since his relationship with Bridget ended, and dealing with that to get to a place of good co-parenting took some time. To do it all over again has been stressful."

According to the news outlet, the insider emphasized that despite their separation, the former couple is optimistic about finding their rhythm in due time, stating: "It is just a sad situation because family is so important to both of them and to not be a complete family sets many struggles moving forward."

"Like everything, they will get there because they aren't getting back together, but Gisele and Tom have gone through a bunch of sadness to be where they are now, which is leaps and bounds better than it has been," the source noted.

As their children transition into young adulthood, the insider shared that the former couple are navigating co-parenting and "are both determined to get there somehow."

"They both agree that the benefit of their kids is what matters and [Gisele] wasn't lying when she said they have good days and bad days. It is a process, especially in the public eye," the source explained.

According to Page Six, she admitted that raising their children, Benjamin, 14, and Vivian, 11, in separate households has presented its challenges.

In a teaser for the segment, the 43-year-old became visibly emotional when anchor Roberts asked her how she was coping with the aftermath of their split.

"Well, when you say…" Bündchen trailed off before getting emotional, adding: "Sorry, guys. I don't know. Can I have a little moment?"

In another part of the interview, she discussed co-parenting arrangements with Brady, saying that she "thinks there are easier days than others, and I can only control what I do."

"But I feel like I owe it to my kids because of what my mom taught me," Bündchen noted.

Regarding the ongoing public scrutiny surrounding her personal life, the 43-year-old maintained a resilient stance: "I can't worry about what other people say about me because what they say about me is none of my business."

"It's their business that they're trying to project onto me. If I'm going to be affected by that, I'm never going to live my truth," she added.
