Donald Trump recently got called out by the estate of late Irish singer Sinead O'Connor over his use of her songs at his rallies.

In a statement, the estate emphasized O'Connor's strong "moral code" while she was alive and noted that she would be "disgusted" and "insulted" by the Republican presidential hopeful using her music.

Last month, during a campaign event in Maryland, Trump played O'Connor's famous hit song, "Nothing Compares 2 U." This likely spurred the estate's recent statement to Trump.

O'Connor's estate and her longtime record label Chrysalis released a scathing joint statement condemning the former president for using her music during a campaign event.

The statement read, "Throughout her life, it is well known that Sinéad O'Connor lived by a fierce moral code defined by honesty, kindness, fairness, and decency towards her fellow human beings. It was with outrage, therefore, that we learned that Donald Trump has been using her iconic performance of 'Nothing Compares 2 U' at his political rallies."

They continued, "It is no exaggeration to say that Sinéad would have been disgusted, hurt, and insulted to have her work misrepresented in this way by someone who she herself referred to as a 'biblical devil.'"

O'Connor's estate wouldn't be the first to distance an artist from Trump. According to the BBC, in 2016, English rock band, The Rolling Stones, revealed that they sent a cease and desist letter to the 77-year-old for playing their song 'You Can't Always Get What You Want' at one of his rallies. Trump reportedly used the same song again in June 2020. This caused the band to threaten him with legal action if he used their music again.

Bruce Springsteen's "Born in the USA" was played by Trump at a political rally in 2016. After the legendary musician backed Hillary Clinton, Trump's opponent at the time, the song began to receive negative feedback every time the former president played it at a rally.

Singer and business mogul Rihanna also slammed Trump for using her songs at his rallies. In 2018, she reportedly threatened the then-president for using her song, "Don't Stop The Music," at one of his events. Rihanna's team at the time emphasized that she was not affiliated with Trump and also not in support of his campaign.

In 2016, Grammy Award-winning musician Adele revealed that she was against her songs being used in any political campaign after Trump played "Rolling in The Deep" and "Skyfall" at his rallies.

Other stars like Elton John, Aerosmith's frontman, Steven Tyler, Pharell Williams, and the famous band R.E.M have also shown their dislike at Trump playing their songs at his campaign events.

O'Connor's death was revealed on July 26, 2023, with the singer's family saying in a statement to RTE, "It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Sinéad. Her family and friends are devastated and have requested privacy at this very difficult time."

On Tuesday, January 9, the Southwark Coroners Court confirmed that O'Connor passed away due to "natural causes." They added in a statement that "the coroner has therefore ceased their involvement in her death."

O'Connor gained notoriety for her performance of the classic "Nothing Compares 2 U," written by famous singer Prince. At the 1990 Grammy Awards, the song led to her being nominated for Record of the Year, Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, and Best Music Video, Short Form.

However, O'Connor had a very difficult life, one that was riddled with controversy. One of the singer's most controversial moments was during her "Saturday Night Live" performance of Bob Marley's "War" in 1992, during which she tore apart a photo of Pope John Paul II as a protest against the Catholic Church.

O'Connor's actions got her permanently banned from 'SNL' and led to her receiving significant backlash, which derailed her career.
