Lala Kent's Second Baby Was Conceived Through IUI With Donor Sperm
At the end of January, Kent opened up to Cosmopolitan about choosing intrauterine insemination, IUI, and using donor sperm to conceive her second child.
"I've had friends who had gone the IUI route but were having trouble getting pregnant. It was the next step they would take before doing IVF (in vitro fertilization). They were all in regular, normal - I call them cookie-cutter-relationships," she told Cosmopolitan.
"And when I had my life go in a very different direction, I knew I wanted more kids. It was such a strange thing that was happening because everyone would tell me, 'You're going to find somebody.' And I got to thinking, 'Why does my wanting more children need to involve another person?' I think if there's a will, there's a way. I knew a donor was an option, and I knew IUI was an option.
She explained that she feels more people should talk about this because "there are women out in the world who sit there and wait for a man to come into the picture and are just yearning for children even though there is another way to get pregnant."

Kent decided that she would go the IUI route and if things didn't work out in her favor for some reason, she would try IVF.
Finding a suitable donor took a bit of time because Kent said, "it's strange."
"It's like you're shopping for your partner but only to have a child, so there's a lot that goes into it," she explained. "But the moment I found this donor, it just spoke to me. He felt like my baby daddy."
The process of finding a donor was "unique" and way more than just seeing a photo, as many people would assume.
"I didn't want to see adult photos because I felt that would make it too personal. I went through the California Cryobank for my donor, and they have such a unique way of making you feel like you know them before you choose them," she said. "For example, there were questions the donors would answer and you would actually hear their voice."
There was a lot of information given about the donors, including their personal views, education level, heritage and a panel of genetic testing.
Kent Wants To Talk About It All Now!
In an Instagram Story shared on Sunday night after posting about her pregnant.
"You guys know how happy I am that I finally have shared the news that I'm expecting my second child? Me, the open book really, really had to fight hard to keep this a secret from you guys, all my homies," she said in an Instagram Story.
"And I'm very excited because I'm going to be live on Amazon, in their actual studios in New York on Tuesday. I wanna answer all your guys' questions. I feel like I've been off the grid. I want to talk about it all. I wanna go insane with getting ready for this baby."
In another Instagram Story, she shares, "If I have another girl...God help me..."
The Story shows her daughter Ocean in Kent's shoe closet wrapped in a towel.
"What are you doing?" Kent asked her sweet daughter, who replied, "No" and closed the door on her.
Kent replied, "Ocean! Ocean Kent!" as she walked up to the door. "Don't! Get out of here!" Ocean responded as she opened the door a little before shutting it on her mom again.
The adorable exchange continued with Ocean telling her mom, "I'm n----." And when Kent asked her if she's putting her shoes on, she replied, "Yeah, because I'm a princess."
