Sam Asghari Teases Reason For Britney Spears Split: 'People Move On'

Actor Sam Asghari is opening up on one of the reasons why he decided to split from pop star Britney Spears.

The former personal trainer started dating the "Oops!... I Did It Again" singer on the set of her "Slumber Party" music video in 2016. They became engaged in September 2021, two months before her controversial 13-year conservatorship came to an end, and tied the knot in June 2022.

In August 2023, the "Special Ops: Lioness" actor filed for divorce, citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split. Although there had been accusations of infidelity and even domestic violence, neither party has ever given the reason behind the split. However, the 29-year-old actor recently hinted that there was nothing dramatic behind the split.

Since going their separate ways in August, the two have been focused on their own separate projects. In October 2023, the "Crossroads" actress released her memoir "The Woman In Me." The former personal trainer has been working on his acting career and has even lost forty pounds after filing for divorce.

"It was a blessing to be able to share life with someone for a long time. And people grow apart and people move on," Sam told People magazine in March 2023, months after filing for divorce.

“I've always hated people leaving a certain relationship — and at some point they told each other they love each other and they sat at the same table and ate food [together] — so I never understood when people part ways [and] they talk badly about each other,” he continued. “That's something I'm never going to do because I had nothing but an amazing experience and a great life, and that's always going to be part of my life, a chapter of my life.”

On Sunday, the aspiring actor will turn 30. As he turns another year older, Sam emphasized his commitment to a "healthy lifestyle" in his chat with People magazine.

“I used to think people that were 30 years old were so old when I was in high school. But every person I talk to, the older they get, the more they get to enjoy life because with age comes wisdom and experiences,” he explained. “And I think experiences in life are beautiful, so that's something that I'm just super excited to just be fulfilled with.”

He went on to say that the only woman in his life at the moment is his dog, Porsha. He had originally given the Doberman puppy to Britney as an engagement present in 2021. However, Britney allowed him to keep the dog when they resolved the custody agreement in regard to their pets last year. That being said, the two have yet to finalize their divorce.

“I always have the most positive mindset about life. My experiences in life have shaped me into the man I am today. I will continue growing. I come from a place where we celebrate our past,” Sam continued. “I look back fondly. My past was a blessing and beautiful.”

In December 2023, Sam revealed that he had lost between 35 to 40 pounds. When speaking to Page Six, the "Special Ops: Lioness" actor emphasized that his "little transformation" was not intended to be a "revenge body" following his split.

“Sometimes when you are in a situation that you don’t get to necessarily focus on yourself, it could be challenging for you to notice [your body changes] but everybody else does,” he explained, noting that his new physique wasn't “necessarily a revenge body, but a self-love sort of thing.”

“Self-love is something everyone should practice,” he continued, noting that he once weighed around three hundred pounds after he was cut from his college football team.

He also spoke about his relationship status, again joking that the only woman in his life was his dog. He went on to say that he would love to adopt another dog "in the near future."

“I definitely won’t be joining any dating apps any time soon,” Sam said, adding, “That’s for sure.”

As for Britney Spears, she recently declared she was single on Instagram despite rumors that she was still casually dating her former housekeeper, who was reportedly fired due to his criminal past.
