MLB Pitcher Tim Wakefield's Wife Passes Away Just 4 Months After His Tragic Death

Less than five months after MLB star Tim Wakefield passed away from brain cancer, his widow, Stacy Wakefield, has also tragically died.

Stacy was married to the two-time World Series champion and Red Sox Hall of Famer since November 2002. The couple had two children together, Trevor and Brianna.

The Boston Red Sox announced the news on their social media as they released a statement from the Wakefield family on Stacy's passing, stating, "Our hearts are beyond broken."

"The loss is unimaginable, especially in the wake of losing Tim just under five months ago. Our hearts are beyond broken," the family's statement said. "We will remember Stacy as a strong, loving, thoughtful, and kind person, who was as down-to-earth as they come. We feel so lucky to have had her in our lives, and we take comfort in the fact that she will be reunited with Tim, the love of her life."

Shockingly, it was revealed that Stacy passed away after a battle with pancreatic cancer. The Wakefields mentioned those who took care of Stacy including doctors, nurses, and caretakers.

"We would like to thank all of Stacy’s doctors, nurses and caretakers who helped her from diagnosis to today—we are eternally grateful for your unmatched care and support. And to all of you who have sent well wishes over these last several months, we truly appreciate your kindness," the statement continued. "We kindly ask for privacy at this time as we try to process this profound loss."

One X user shared their condolences on social media, writing, "RIP to Stacy Wakefield wife of Red Sox legend Tim Wakefield. Stacey passed away 5 months after Tim and sending the entire Wakefield family my condolences

Another said, "Prayers to the Wakefield family. Stacy Wakefield, the wife of Red Sox knuckleballer Tim Wakefield, passed away Tuesday from cancer. Stacy had had been battling cancer at the same time as Tim. Tim died in October after suffering a seizure following surgery for brain cancer."

"What an unimaginable tragedy for their children and family," one X user wrote on the social media platform.

Another said, "The world is infinitely worse without Tim & Stacy Wakefield. To lose them both within 5 months feels incredibly unfair, especially to Trev & Bree. The only solace is that they are together, which is all they ever wanted to be. Thank you for everything, Wake and Stace. I love you."

Stacy and Tim are survived by two children.
