MLB's Anthony Rendon, who is getting paid $245 million, is being slammed by fans of the sport after his recent comments.

The Angels' third basemen has been dealing with injuries, especially during the 2023 season, but he seems healthy for the upcoming season as he's been participating in spring training.

However, fans can't let go of the fact that he says he has considered retiring for the last 10 years, which is not the best look... When approached about the possibility of retiring, the MLB player made some comments that did not sit well with fans of the sport.

The 33-year-old is getting paid $245M for playing in the MLB, but despite the big paycheck, Rendon says baseball is not a "top priority."

“It’s a lot different. I’m married. I have four kids,” Rendon said of how time changed his outlook on certain things. “My priorities have changed since I was in my early 20s. So, definitely my perspective on baseball has been more skewed.”

But what really stuck out to fans is when Rendon said, “It’s never been a top priority for me. This is a job. I do this to make a living. My faith, my family come before this job."

“So if those things come before it, I’m leaving," he added.

It should come as no surprise that these comments did not sit well with MLB fans, as many are calling the entire situation a "joke" and are accusing Rendon of not having any "integrity."

"Anthony Rendon saying his focus has never been on baseball but yet gets multimillion dollar deals has to be a joke for the sport. Role model for quitters and excuses," one MLB fan said.

"Personally I would cut Anthony Rendon and never let him back into the league. What a f--king jabroni," one X user wrote, adding, "I'd milk any GM for a spot on a roster. They wrote me off after I tore my ACL rounding third base after hitting a walk off grand slam in my beer league."

"Anthony Rendon talks about his job like he’s making $40k a year selling term life insurance and not a metric f--kton of money to play a game," another said.

Fans Want Anthony Rendon Out Of The Sport Following Recent Comments

Fans of the sport continued to speak out on social media, slamming the MLB player. "If Anthony Rendon had any integrity he’d retire. He’s made enough money. Clearly he is not training to get his body in shape to play Major League Baseball at a high level," one user said, adding, "Have some ethics and retire."

Another wrote, "Anthony Rendon's loud mouth has made him really dislikable - even more so than his poor performance and unreliable fitness since joining the #Angels four years ago."

As one user called him a "useless cancerous POS."

"I genuinely hate Anthony Rendon. As an Angels fan we should all be embarrassed that this guy is still under contract," another said, adding that the team should "cut ties with him."

And one user expressed, "Then leave. You have generational wealth and obviously hate the game. Athletes say this s--t but have zero f--king understanding of what life means for 99% of American families. Can’t put food on their tables. Can’t pay for healthcare. Just shut the f--k up Anthony Rendon."

Anthony Rendon has yet to comment on the backlash or on his recent interview.
