Napa Valley-based celebrity chef Michael Chiarello is helping the firefighting efforts in wine country the best way he can — with Italian comfort food.

A rep for the restauranteur tells The Blast that Chiarello has been cooking nonstop to feed local firefighters. If that's not enough, he's been doing it without power!

The Food Network star's famed Bottega restaurant lost power on Monday night, along with the rest of the region, so he was basically cooking in the dark over a gas stove.

We're told Chiarello and company feel "fortunate" to be safe from the blaze, so they're focusing on supporting first responders.

In case you're in an area impacted by the firestorm and want to show your firefighters some love, here's Chiarello's big batch pasta recipe!

Michael Chairello

  • Start with 20 lbs of pasta

  • 20 lbs of Italian sausage, sauté until light brown

  • add 1 cup chop garlic and sauté until light brown

  • add 4 gallons of roasted tomato sauce (Chef Chiarello's is probably homemade but you can use whatever jarred sauce you can get your hands on)

  • cook until pasta is done

  • divide between 6 large roasting pans

  • top with house smoked pecorino cheese

Chef Chiarello says, once this is all combined, "presto, you have spaghetti [with] sausage bolognese for 100."
