The Reason Why Kelly Rowland Abruptly Walked Off The 'Today' Show

Kelly Rowland abruptly left the set of the 'Today' show, leaving Hoda Kobtscrambling to find another co-host at the last minute.

The Destiny's Child member was supposed to be a guest on the 'Today' show, filling in for Jenna Bush Hager, and was set to promote her new Netflix movie, 'Mea Culpa,' in which she stars and produces.

However, Rowland dropped out of the 'Today' show just moments before going live.

Rowland knows what she wants and how she likes things... and the dressing room of the 'Today' show was not it. The singer was set to co-host the morning talk show alongside Hoda Kobt, but once she saw the dressing room, she pulled out of the show.

“Kelly and her team were not happy. They did not like the dressing room, so they decided to pull her off the show, leaving [Kotb] without a guest host for the 10 a.m. hour,” a source told Page Six.

The 43-year-old is well-known in the television industry, having judged on the eighth season of 'The X Factor UK' and on the third season of 'The X Factor USA.' Aside from her television experience, she, of course, is known as one-third of Destiny's Child, where she was joined by Beyoncé and Michelle Williams.

Apparently, Rowland and her team wanted to play a game of “musical dressing rooms" on the 'Today' show set before concluding that none of them were up to par.

The entire situation left the 'Today' crew shocked as the source revealed, “She’s beloved at ‘Today.’ She was getting the full hour, and Hoda’s the biggest hype woman on the planet! It made no sense."

Though, it may seem as though Rowland had a point, as another source told the outlet that the dressing rooms at the 'Today' show set are not the best in the industry.

“They’re not nice. It’s the oldest building. There are major space limitations, [it’s] not glamorous. It’s not fresh flowers, candles, and gourmet food. It’s basically [a] white box,” the TV source said.

Regardless, the outlet told that the producers of the show bent over backward for the Destiny's Child member as they offered several other options, including talent dressing rooms which are much larger than the others. But, this still was not good enough, as Rowland ultimately walked off the set, leaving Kobt scrambling to find a replacement.

“They didn’t want that. [The show] basically offered up as much as possible, but they weren’t happy with it, so they walked and they left,” the insider continued to tell the outlet.

Luckily, singer Rita Ora volunteered and filled in for Rowland, who, reportedly, took the dressing room that Rowland was offered without any complaints.

Rowland was there to co-host and promote her new thriller film, 'Mea Culpa', which was written, directed, and produced by Tyler Perry. The film follows Mea Harper (Rowland), a criminal defense attorney who gets close to her client Zyair Malloy (Trevante Rhodes), an artist accused of murdering his girlfriend.

Reps for the 'Today' show and Kelly Rowland have yet to comment on the situation.
