Days after publicly confirming her exit from the "Real Housewives of Atlanta" franchise, Kandi Burruss is ready to share the reasons behind her shocking decision.
The multi-hyphenate star recently reflected on her Grammys red carpet moment, where she announced her departure from Bravo's reality series. The former Xscape member addressed the matter on her YouTube series, "Speak on It," revealing her announcement didn't go as planned.
Kandi Burruss Wants To Spend More Time With Family
Although Burruss made waves for her shocking announcement at the Grammys, she confessed that she never wanted to break the news at the music award show. The singer-songwriter noted the cat got out of the bag at the moment, which was why she decided to do a deep dive into her reasons for leaving "RHOA."
After spending 14 seasons, Burruss admitted it was time to test new waters and focus on her family. She explained that specific "mommy duties" became possible following her absence from the reality TV series.
"My mom had to get cataract surgery; I was able to take her and get her eyes fixed and be there for [her] when she came out of there," the 47-year-old began, adding that she also spent time getting her children checked out.

"Riley had her eyes corrected because, child, we can't see honey. So I was able to take her. I was able to take Ace and Blaze to their annual appointments," Burruss continued before raving about enjoying her motherhood duties. In her words:
"Like I was doing real mommy duties, and I was loving it. I was like, now, I know this ain't got nothing to do with making money, but I probably wouldn't have been able to be there for every one of those things had I not had the little extra time on my hands."
The singer-songwriter's reference to "little extra time" on her hands was about the break Bravo gave cast members while they figured out what would happen to the housewives in the next season. However, Burruss grew bored of playing the waiting game and found more fulfilling things to do.
In her Grammys announcement, she stressed that showrunners took too long to decide their next steps. This helped her realize her desire to spend more time with her family and work on projects outside the show, like the recently released Prime Video comedy "The Underdoggs."
Fortunately, Burruss hasn't completed her story on "RHOA" as she is open to returning to the franchise. While her Bravo future remains unknown, fans can enjoy all the multi-hyphenate star presently has to offer.
