Pop star Britney Spears is still not ready to make amends with her father, Jamie Spears, who acted as her conservator for most of her court-ordered conservatorship, which lasted from February 2008 to November 2021.

In his latest legal filing, Jamie Spears is claiming that a global settlement in his dispute with her daughter is unlikely and does not want a continuance of the upcoming trial due to a lack of settlement at mediation later this month.

In other words, the Spears patriarch is accusing Britney of stall tactics, but it looks like her fans are standing squarely behind her, especially after the revelations that she released about her life during her conservatorship in her memoir, “The Woman In Me,” which was released last October.

In court documents obtained by The Blast on Wednesday, February 7, Jamie accuses Britney of using stall tactics to cause a delay. “There is no reason to stay any portion of the case (as the Court acknowledged at the January 5, 2024 hearing) and there is certainly no basis for staying briefing or any other activity that in any way relates to Jamie’s pending summary judgment motion set for hearing on April 12, 2024,” the document reads.

“The parties have had months (indeed, years) to discuss settlement. They have not settled. Imposing a stay simply because there is a February 23, 2024 meditation seems certain to result in a trial continuance should the parties not settle at mediation,” the filing adds, noting that Jamie filed his Petition for Order Allowing and Approving Payment of Compensation to Conservator and Attorneys for Conservative and Reimbursement of Costs on March 26, 2021 – two and a half years ago. That petition should be resolved at the June 2024 trial.

Britney's father, Jamie Spears arrives at the UCLA hospital to see his daughter Britney, he is clearly distressedSPEARS HOSPITALISEDBRITNEY SPEARS has been taken by ambulance from her Los Angeles mansion and admitted to the city's UCLA hospital. The star's ambulance was surrounded by a convoy of police cars as it left her Beverly Hills home, after a major incident which saw the property surrounded by emergency services. Police, paramedics and U.S. rangers were seen entering the star's luxury compound and opening the property's fire gates late on Wednesday (30Jan08) night. Spear's mother Lynne, who is in L.A. visiting her elder daughter, was seen entering the house, followed by the star's father Jamie, who was seen crying as he arrived at the property. As the pop star was whisked away to hospital, Lynne Spears was seen following the ambulance in a car with her daughter's paparazzo boyfriend Adnan Ghalib. Spears was admitted to UCLA at around 1.30am on Thursday (31Jan08) morning, with her longtime companion/manager Sam Lutfi seen leaving the facility a short time later. The star will be held at the hospital on a metal health order, according to TMZ.com. The 26-year-old was previously admitted to L.A.'s Cedars-Sinai Medical Center earlier this month (03Jan08) after a three-hour stand-off with police, and was held for two days on a '5150 hold' order, meaning medics have reason to believe she is a danger to herself or others. “Meanwhile, Britney consistently tries to delay,” the filing adds, going on to say that “Britney wasted over two years with motion practice regarding the threatened deposition of non-party Robin Greenhill, had the deposition set for January 29, 2024, and unilaterally canceled the deposition the Friday afternoon before the deposition (apparently concluding that the deposition was pointless).”

“The Court cautioned the parties that it will not continue trial. The parties have already spent one month waiting for meditation and waiting for rulings on the outstanding discovery disputes,” the filing continues. “Every day is critical to ensure the case continues to progress and is ready for trial without the need for a continuance. Accordingly, Jamie requests the Court does not stay this action pending the upcoming mediation and maintains the firm trial dates.”

In her memoir, “The Woman In Me,” Britney made several accusations against her father, including a time when she claimed that he told her “I’m Britney Spears now.” In her book, she wrote about how her father considered her "too sick to choose my own boyfriend and yet somehow healthy enough to appear on sitcoms and morning shows, and to perform for thousands of people in a different part of the world every week.”

She said that her father “repeatedly” told her that she “looked fat,” writing, “If I thought getting criticized about my body in the press was bad, it hurt even more from my own father."

"Feeling like you’re never good enough is a soul-crushing state of being for a child,” she continued. “He’d drummed that message into me as a girl, and even after I’d accomplished so much, he was continuing to do that to me.” She went on to say that she felt like a “child-robot” due to what her father put her through.

“I became a robot. But not just a robot — a sort of child-robot. I had been so infantilized that I was losing pieces of what made me feel like myself,” she wrote in an excerpt published by People magazine. “The conservatorship stripped me of my womanhood, made me into a child. I became more of an entity than a person onstage. I had always felt music in my bones and my blood; they stole that from me.”

“This is what’s hard to explain, how quickly I could vacillate between being a little girl and being a teenager and being a woman, because of the way they had robbed me of my freedom. There was no way to behave like an adult, since they wouldn’t treat me like an adult, so I would regress and act like a little girl; but then my adult self would step back in — only my world didn’t allow me to be an adult,” she added.

Britney Spears' memoir "The Woman In Me" was officially released on Tuesday, October 24, 2023.
