"Batman v Superman" actor Henry Cavill expressed his disdain for filming intimate scenes, denouncing them as "overused" in cinema and an "excuse to see people with less clothing on."

Speaking on the "Happy Sad Confused" podcast,  the 40-year-old actor admitted to feeling "uncomfortable" while filming such scenes, asserting that it had minimal contribution to storytelling.

He explained: "I think sometimes they're overused these days, and it's when you have a sense where you're going. "Is this really necessary, or is it people just with less clothing on."

"And that's where you start to get more uncomfortable, and you're thinking, 'There's not a performance here, there's not a piece which is going to carry through to the rest of the movie,'" he added, per Daily Mail.

However, Cavill admitted that although he's not a fan, s-- scenes can be "great" in certain contexts and can be potentially significant in storytelling.

The actor explained: "I don't understand them - I'm not a fan. I think there are circumstances where a s-- scene actually is beneficial to a movie, rather than just the audience."

The "The Man from U.N.C.L.E." actor, however, maintained reservations about their prevalence in cinema, stating, "I think s-- scenes can be great in a movie, they can really help with the storytelling, but most of the time the human imagination is going to trump it."

Criticizing the depiction of nudity without substantial narrative contribution, he added: "So, it can be a little bit of a cop-out if a TV show or a movie is just filled with gyrating bodies and you're going 'Okay, but what is this doing for us apart from the idea of oh naked person, great.' [I'm] not a fan of doing them."

He continued: "And I'd go off and meet with Daniel and he'd say what's going on. He said, 'There's this young guy, Henry Cavill, who I think they're seeing as well.'"

Vaughn then revealed that Cavill came close to securing the coveted 007 role, but the producer's choice won instead because Cavill was too young. "So, just so you know, and they decided you were too young," the director said, per People Magazine.

However, despite not securing the "Bond" role, Vaughn shared that the introduction placed Cavill on his radar and led to their collaboration on the film "Stardust" in 2007.
