Kate decided not to have her three kids, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, visit her at the London Clinic. The Princess of Wales is currently recovering after having major abdominal surgery on January 16. Since that time, Prince William visited her several times during her 13-day stay, but their three kids weren't allowed to come along to see their mother.

During an interview with People Magazine, Royal biographer Ingrid Seward revealed the reason why the kids weren't allowed to see their mom. She said, "I don't think she wanted to make more of a big thing of it than it already was. They'll be rallying 'round in their own way and helping to look after her."

Instead of a physical visit, Kate maintained communication with her kids via FaceTime. It's what she and William often do when they have to go on Royal tours without their kids. It's a practice at the London Clinic for kids not to enter the hospital without permission from management for patient safety and to prevent infections.

After her short stay at the London Clinic, Kate was discharged on Monday. The princess has now returned to recover fully at Adelaide Cottage, her and William's private residence near Windsor Castle. She has finally reunited with her three kids and can spend time with them as she rests.

Seward spoke about Kate's recovery and said, "I'm sure she's utterly exhausted, but she'll recover well." Kensington Palace also released a statement and noted that the princess is "making good progress" in her recovery after the surgery.

In the statement, the Palace said that Kate and William are extremely grateful to the medical team that cared for her, "especially the dedicated nursing staff."

As Kate recovers, she requires lots of care and assistance, and William is more than ready to provide. He's reportedly cleared his work calendar to be by her side and stay with their kids during her recuperation period. The Prince of Wales is working with Borrallo to organize their daily school pickups.

A close family spoke to People and said the Royal couple doesn't maintain "a huge private staff" at their residence. They explained that because of this, "William is really hands-on" with home activities.

The source further said, "He doesn't want any mistakes made with the next generation. He wants to give them a proper upbringing and lots of love. That is foremost in his mind."

Another source explained that the family dynamic at Kate and William's home is "more like one we can all recognize."

In Kensington Palace's statement announcing her abdominal surgery, they said that Kate's desire amid the surgery and recovery is to "maintain as much normality for her children as possible."

According to the news outlet, the illness was carefully hidden from their larger circle of family and friends.

There was reportedly no indication of anything wrong with the princess, and the news of her surgery surprised even people working with the Royal family.

Kate's surgery was just a week after her 42nd birthday and not long after their kids resumed school after the holidays. Kate's schedule has been cleared as she stays home to recover, and she's not expected to resume her public duties until Easter.

Her father-in-law, King Charles III, was also admitted to the London Clinic after announcing that he was diagnosed with an "enlarged prostate." The King, like Kate, has also since left the hospital to recover at home.
