The Future Of 'Family Guy' Revealed By Seth MacFarlane

'Family Guy' creator and star Seth MacFarlane is speaking out on the future of the hit show, revealing how long he thinks the Griffin Family has on Fox.

The show has been nominated for many awards over the years, including Best Song Written for Visual Media at the Grammys and Outstanding Animated Program at the Emmys.

In honor of the 25th anniversary of the show's debut episode, Seth MacFarlane opened up about the beloved animated series and its legacy.

Looking back at the last 25 years, and seeing where the show is today, MacFarlane admits "it's still surviving and thriving."

"It still has a sizable audience and is a perfect example of there being an appetite for something," he told TheWrap adding, "So we continue to feed the beast."

The animated series was initially canceled after its third season, however, the interest in the show, which was proven by DVD sales and ratings, convinced Fox to bring back the series. The show now has 22 seasons.

So will the series come to an end soon? The show's creator states, "there's no indication that the show is going to end any time soon."

In addition to creating the show, MacFarlane voices many characters on 'Family Guy' including Peter Griffin, Brian Griffin, Stewie Griffin and Glenn Quagmire, so naturally, when appearing on 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon', the nighttime host had to ask MacFarlane to play a game involving a few of his most beloved characters.

"I'm gonna to start by shoplifting from Wetzel's Pretzels, because, like, what are they going to do? Jump over the counter and kill me for a pretzel?" MacFarlane said in Peter Giffin's Massachusetts accent, "No. You don't have the guts to kill me, Wetzel's Pretzels."

Of course, the audience went wild, but the true surprise was when Fallon asked MacFarlane to do an impression of Seamus, who, for those of you who don't know, is 'Family Guy''s wooden-limbed fisherman.

"Do you guys even know who Seamus is?" MacFarlane asked before the audience cheered. "I want to get into yoga, so I can stretch my pegs," MacFarlane said in his Seamus voice.

With 22 seasons (and seemingly many more to come), Seth MacFarlane is speaking on the show's legacy, stating that "the goal of the show is just to make people laugh."

"It delves into social allegory and politics now and then without question, as a good primetime animated show should, but that’s always secondary," he told the outlet adding, "It's a room full of comedy writers who just want to f---ing laugh. That’s the mission statement of the show and it doesn't ever really try to position itself with any pomposity as anything more than that, which I think in this instance is probably a good thing."

MacFarlane stars alongside other big-name actors including Alex Borstein (Lois Griffin), Seth Green (Chris Griffin), and Mila Kunis (Meg Griffin). Patrick Warburton also provides his voice for the show in the character Joe Swanson, with Arif Zahir voicing Cleveland Brown.

'Family Guy' returns to Fox on March 6 at 9:30 p.m. ET.
