Jonathan Majors Is Keeping The Faith Amid Guilty Verdict Backlash

Jonathan Majors has remained positive amid the recent fallout he has been experiencing.

The actor, who was slammed with a guilty verdict in his domestic violence case with an ex-girlfriend, has claimed that he is doing okay and is laser-focused on his faith to get him through the tough times.

A focus on religion appeared to be benefiting Majors greatly, as he wore a happy and relaxed expression when U.S. media caught up with him recently. During the short chat, the 34-year-old actor revealed that he has relied on faith and prayer for some light during this dark time, emphasizing, "God is good."

Despite that assurance, the "Creed III" star opted not to answer questions about future work, indicating that he preferred not to discuss that at the time. His silence on the subject is no surprise, as his guilty verdict resulted in him being removed from various Hollywood projects, including all Marvel projects. 

Given that Marvel projects are typically a financial pinnacle for actors, fans have assumed that having the rug pulled from under his feet was a significant disappointment for him.

Late last year, Majors was convicted on two out of four counts related to allegations of mistreating his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. The charges included reckless assault and harassment, while he was acquitted of aggravated harassment and intentional assault.

The father-of-one has continued reaffirming his innocence despite the court's ruling, per TMZ. The outlet reported that although he denied any wrongdoing, he expressed regret for how he handled the situation with his former girlfriend. 

It remains uncertain if Majors will convey the same message before the judge during his sentencing on February 6, where he could potentially face up to a year in prison.

While previously speaking on his involvement in Jabbari's injuries sustained during their altercation in the back of a Cadillac Escalade on March 25, 2023, he said:

"I shouldn't have been in the car. I shouldn't have stepped out of the relationship. I shouldn't have been in the relationship. If I'm not in the car, none of this is happening."

When asked if he was taking responsibility for the incident but not the injuries, Majors simply responded, "Can't say that. None of her injuries."

Regarding his feelings about his assault trial and the subsequent verdict, The Blast reported that the 34-year-old actor admitted feeling "shocked" by the jury's decision. In his words:

"I was absolutely shocked and afraid. How is that possible? Based off the evidence, based off the prosecution's evidence, let alone our evidence."

Before Majors opened up about his feelings, his ex-lover broke her silence for the first time since he was convicted of assault and harassment.

The Blast noted that Jabbari's speech came via her Instagram Stories, where she expressed gratitude to the domestic violence charity, Sanctuary for Families, which supported her throughout the trial.

"For my birthday, if you want… a donation to sffny, a charity that helped me so much this year, would be the best gift you could give. Thank you so much sffny, and everyone else… for everything," she penned on social media at the time. 

Like Jabbari, the charity also issued a statement after Majors' guilty verdict, disclosing their pride in representing the British dancer during the trial. They wrote:

"Sanctuary for Families is proud to have represented Ms. Jabbari throughout this process and will continue to support her on her journey toward justice and healing."

Yet another entity that spoke on Majors' guilty verdict was the Manhattan District Attorney's Office. In a statement released after the trial, District Attorney Alvin Bragg reiterated the DA's commitment to prioritizing survivors before adding:

"The evidence presented throughout this trial illustrated a cycle of psychological and emotional abuse and escalating patterns of coercion far too common across the many intimate partner violence cases we see each and every day. Today, a jury determined that the pattern of abuse and coercion culminated with Mr. Majors assaulting and harassing his girlfriend. We thank the jury for its service and the survivor for bravely telling her story despite having to relive her trauma on the stand."
