Even though Britney Spears had a lot to say about her ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake in her October 2023 memoir "The Woman In Me," it looks like she has stayed true to her word and moved on from some of the events that she described in her tell-all book.
After Justin Timberlake dropped his new song, "Selfish," fans of the Princess of Pop were quick to get her own song of the same name from her 2011 Femme Fatale album back on the charts. However, it seems that Britney has no ill will against her ex and genuinely likes his new music.
Britney Spears Says That She Liked Justin Timberlake's New Song 'Selfish'
Britney Spears shares message on Instagram and praises Justin Timberlake’s new song:
“I wanna apologize for some of the things I wrote about in my book. If I offended any of the people I genuinely care about I am deeply sorry... I also wanted to say I am in love with Justin… pic.twitter.com/NmPcRd4XUC

Over the weekend, the "Oops!... I Did It Again" singer took to Instagram to tell her followers that she was a big fan of her ex's new music.
“I wanna apologize for some of the things I wrote about in my book. If I offended any of the people I genuinely care about I am deeply sorry… I also wanted to say I am in love with Justin Timberlake’s new song ‘Selfish,’” she wrote in the caption. “It is soo good and how come every time I see Justin and Jimmy together I laugh so hard ??? Ps ‘Sanctified’ is wow too.”
Although comments on her Instagram post were disabled, fans took to X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, to speculate whether her praise was genuine or if her account had been hacked.
Sources Say Britney's Support Of Justin's New Music Is Genuine
On Monday afternoon, fans learned that the "Toxic" singer was being genuine when she said that she liked Justin's music. "Honestly she just wanted to wish him well. She really does like the song," an insider told People magazine. "She's a kind person."
"She genuinely just loves good music. She was curious about [Timberlake's] new tracks, and she really likes his new music,” a second source added. “Britney has a good heart and is full of compliments when she likes something. She always speaks her mind. That’s what's so special about her."
This Isn't The First Time Britney Spears Said She Never Meant To 'Offend' Anyone
A few days before "The Woman In Me" was released, the 42-year-old pop star took to social media to let her followers know that she had moved on from many events that she described in her tell-all book.
“My book’s purpose was not to offend anyone by any means !!! That was me then …that is in the past !!!” she began. “I don’t like the headlines I am reading …that’s exactly why I quit the business 4 years ago !!! Most of the book is from 20 years ago … I have moved on and it’s a beautiful clean slate from here !!!”
“I am here to establish it that way for the rest of my entire life !!!” she continued. “Either way, that is the last of it and s--- happens !! This is actually a book didn’t know needed to be written … although some might be offended, it has given me closure on all things for a better future !!!”
“Hopefully I can enlighten people who feel particularly alone in most cases or hurt or misunderstood !!! Again, my motive for this book was not to harp on my past experiences which is what the press is doing and it’s dumb and silly !!!” she concluded. “I have moved on since then !! #TheWomaninMe.”
Britney Wrote About Her Unplanned Pregnancy In Her Memoir
One of the biggest revelations from Britney's memoir came when she said that she and Justin navigated an unplanned pregnancy together. The two decided to terminate the pregnancy because, according to the singer, Justin "didn't want to be a father."
“It was a surprise, but for me, it wasn’t a tragedy. I loved Justin so much. I always expected us to have a family together one day. This would just be much earlier than I’d anticipated,” she wrote. “But Justin definitely wasn’t happy about the pregnancy. He said we weren’t ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young."
"If it had been left up to me alone, I never would have done it. And yet Justin was so sure that he didn’t want to be a father,” she added. She went on to write, “To this day, it’s one of the most agonizing things I have ever experienced in my life."
Britney Spears' memoir "The Woman In Me" was officially released on Tuesday, October 24, 2023.
