The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, were faced with a major security scare following their trip to Jamaica. The couple was reportedly issued a warning about an increase in burglaries in the area where their Montecito home is located.

Harry and Meghan were abroad for the premiere of the Bob Marley biopic when the alleged crimes happened within their community.

According to a report, Harry and Meghan's lush Montecito community was recently plagued by multiple burglaries while they were away in Jamaica for the "Bob Marley: One Love" biopic premiere.

Law enforcement officers have now alerted the royal couple about the heightened crime in the area and notified them that they may be the next victims of an organized gang burglarizing homes in the Montecito area.

The latest burglary incident happened at a property about a five-minute drive from Harry and Meghan's $15 million mansion, per the Daily Mail. The gang of thieves specifically targets the safes in the homes they invade.

Santa Barbara County Sheriff Officer Rachel Zick sent out an alert to the neighborhood, which is also home to Hollywood stars like Ellen DeGeneres, Katy Perry, and Orlando Bloom. The Montecito Association, a local organization, also provided advice on house security.

In the warning sent out by Officer Zick, she shared the specific timeline of the burglary incident and the kind of homes the criminals tend to target.

Her message read, "In the past week, deputies have taken several burglary reports with notable similarities in the resident layouts, times of occurrence and items taken."

Zick continued, "In these burglaries, criminals target unoccupied residences that back up to open spaces such as golf courses as well as creeks, streams or the ocean. Investigators have noted most of these crimes tend to occur between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m."

"The most recent burglaries occurred on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, in the 1500-block of Las Tunas in Montecito, and two in the 800-block of Sand Point Lane, Carpinteria. The suspect(s) in these cases are targeting safes," the officer's message concluded.

This is, unfortunately, not Harry and Meghan's first security scare at their California estate. In July 2022, it was reported that the duke and duchess received six break-in alarms in their home in the first 14 months of their relocation to America after stepping back from their roles as senior royals.

Harry & Meghan's Trip To Jamaica

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex recently made a surprise appearance at the "Bob Marley: One Love" biopic premiere in Jamaica, where they both dazzled on the red carpet while taking photos with dignitaries.

Prince Harry looked dapper in his navy suit and a white buttoned-down shirt underneath. For her part, Meghan looked stunning and elegant in her all-black outfit. The former actress donned a black spaghetti strap top tucked neatly into her massive black Carolina Herrera taffeta skirt.

She wore her hair in a simple bun and had minimal make-up, emphasizing her natural beauty. Meghan then accessorized the look with just a pair of gold disc earrings.

During the event, the royal couple posed with Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness. They also took photos with Paramount Pictures boss Brian Robbins and his wife, Tracy James. The film studio reportedly sponsored Harry and Meghan's trip to Jamaica in a private jet.

Harry & Meghan Were Accused of 'Trolling' The Royal Family With Their Jamaica Trip

Following their outing to Jamaica for the Bob Marley biopic premiere, Harry and Meghan were slammed for "trolling" the royal family by cozying up to Prime Minister Holness, who was branded an anti-monarchist.

Royal commentators Andrew Pierce and Sarah Vine took to their YouTube show to talk about the couple "hobnobbing" around Holness during the week when the King underwent a medical procedure to treat his "enlarged prostate."

Pierce said, "In the very week the King is going into hospital… he is there consorting, hobnobbing with one of the most overtly Republican prime ministers in the Caribbean. Somebody who also wanted to break up the Commonwealth, which was so precious to the Queen. They are tone deaf."

Vine then claimed, "They are deliberately trolling the Royal Family. Both the Princess of Wales and King Charles are in hospital, and they have not said anything."

She continued, "Normally, they are keen for everyone to know how much they care about people, and they have not said anything. I think their game plan is going to be self-hating Royals. They are going to be, 'We are part of the Royal Family, but we hate it.'"

Amid news of a health crisis in the royal family, it's been revealed that Harry and Meghan sent their "best wishes" to King Charles and Kate Middleton as they recover.
