Hillary Clinton has joined the list of celebrities expressing their displeasure at the Oscars snub of "Barbie" creator Greta Gerwig and lead actress Margot Robbie.
After the politician shared her thoughts on the matter, fans slammed her for connecting the snub to her election loss in 2016, while some supported Clinton.
Ryan Gosling and America Ferrera, the two actors from "Barbie" who were actually nominated, have each released statements on the snub.
Hillary Clinton Made A Post About The Oscars 'Barbie' Snub
On Tuesday, the Oscars nominations were finally announced to the world, and of course, "Barbie" swept multiple categories. The hit film received eight nominations in the categories of Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay, Costume Design, Production Design, and more. However, two very major categories were missing from its list of nominations.
Ryan Gosling, the actor behind Ken, was nominated for Best Supporting Actor, and America Ferrera was nominated for Best Supporting Actress. However, director Greta Gerwig and lead star Margot Robbie weren't nominated for Best Director and Best Actress, respectively.
Greta & Margot,
While it can sting to win the box office but not take home the gold, your millions of fans love you.
You’re both so much more than Kenough.#HillaryBarbie

In the days since the nomination "snub" was revealed, many fans and stars have made statements about their opinion on Gerwig and Robbie's absence, including Hillary Clinton.
Her tweet on X, formerly Twitter, read, "Greta & Margot, While it can sting to win the box office but not take home the gold, your millions of fans love you. You're both so much more than Kenough. #HillaryBarbie."
Fans Had Mixed Reactions To Hillary Clinton's 'Barbie' Tweet
On X, there were mixed reactions to Clinton's tweet, with some saying that the message was a comparison to her defeat in the 2016 U.S. presidential election. Clinton was predicted to win the election at the time because she held the popular vote by a 2.9 million gap. However, she eventually lost to Donald Trump due to the electoral college system.
Many tweets criticized Clinton for her comment on the "Barbie" snub.
One from Jason Rants read, "Hillary Clinton is trying to make 'Barbie' about herself. The narcissism is astonishing, mildly threatening." Another person wrote, "You know quite a bit about expecting to win but falling short, I expect."
A third person commented under Clinton's tweet, "'Barbie' was a bad movie. Just because it made a lot of money doesn't make it good or a winner. Similarly, just because Hillary Clinton got a lot of votes doesn't make her good or [a] President of the United States. Oppenheimer was a much better film. And Trump a better candidate."
However, there were also people who supported Clinton and appreciated the tweet. One such comment read, "Like the movie, #HillaryBarbie won the popular vote."
'Barbie' Stars Also Made Posts About The Snub
Gosling also released a statement criticizing the Academy for recognizing "Barbie" without recognizing Gerwig and Robbie. He wrote, "There is no Ken without Barbie, and there is no Barbie movie without Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie, the two people most responsible for this history-making, globally-celebrated film."
Gosling wrote that it's an "understatement" to say that he's disappointed about the duo not being recognized and said both women "should be recognized along with the other very deserving nominees." He also expressed his joy for Ferrera's nomination and that of the multiple artists whose work was recognized through the various nominations.
For her part, Ferrera released a statement to People Magazine about the snub and her joy for being part of the film. It read, "Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie made history and raised the bar with 'Barbie.' The cultural and industry impact they've achieved will be felt for generations, and I'm so thankful to them for asking me to be a part of it."
Other Celebs Reacted To Margot Robbie And Greta Gerwig's Snub
Aside from the "Barbie" stars and Clinton, other big names in Hollywood also reacted to the Oscars snub and expressed their disappointment. Michelle Yeoh, winner of the Best Actress category at the 2023 Oscars ceremony, spoke about it during a Wednesday "Today" show appearance.
She said, "The only take is, like, it's so competitive out there, and there is no guarantee because you're not the only voter, you know? It's widespread. Thank God the movie got nominated for Best Picture. But you do think, 'How do you get nominated for Best Picture but not Best Director and not Best Actress?'"
Author Stephen King also made tweets about the snub, questioning why Gerwig, in particular, was skipped for the Best Director nomination, with the post, "Can that actually be true?"
He also expressed disapproval of the Academy's selection process, saying, "The Oscar nominations and moviegoing tastes have pretty much parted company."
