Sofia Vergara has opened up about her favorite thing about New York City — the men.
The actress, renowned for her role as Gloria Delgato-Pritchett in the hit "Modern Family," shared that the city is crawling with more options for her as a single woman. It comes many months after Vergara and actor Joe Manganiello issued a joint statement announcing the "difficult decision" to divorce.
New York City's Manly Options Has Sofia Vergara Planning To Enjoy More Time There
Vergara expressed enthusiasm about the array of eligible men in NYC during Tuesday's episode of "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" on NBC. The 51-year-old actress, looking stunning in a black sheath dress, shared her love for the city and its vibrant energy with Fallon, saying:
"I think that you have more options with men, also. I'm single now. So in New York there's more people, there's not only like actors, write[rs] or directors. I think there's like a bigger… I'm going to spend more time in New York."
She doubled down on her intent to test out the Big Apple's many options when Fallon told her that the food in the city was also good. As Vergara humorously replied to the audience's delight, "There's great food for when you go out on dates. It's better, yes."
Despite her excitement at the prospect of dating again, the "America's Got Talent" judge is not a fan of the weather in NYC. Confiding in Fallon about her struggle with the cold weather, she revealed:
"I had [a] panic attack when I woke up this morning and I saw the snow, and I was like, 'We have to cancel this whole world tour for 'Griselda' because…I don't think I can do it.'"
As mentioned, Vergara's spirited chat with Fallon follows the end of her seven-year marriage to Manganiello. Manganiello submitted divorce papers in Los Angeles County Courts, citing "irreconcilable differences" for the split, with the surprising detail that the couple officially separated on July 2, 2023.
The "True Blood" performer noted a prenuptial agreement in the filing, specifying that spousal support will be determined by that document, and mentioned that child support did not apply as they have no minor children together.
Regarding their break-up announcement, Manganiello and Vergara gave a joint statement in June 2023 that read:
"We have made the difficult decision to divorce. As two people who love and care for one another very much, we politely ask for the respect of our privacy at this time as we navigate this new phase of our lives."
At the time, insiders revealed that the couple had been drifting apart, attempting to address issues, but their priorities were different, leading to challenges in their relationship.
Vergara Was Thankful For The Media's Graciousness Towards Her Following The Divorce Announcement
The Blast recently reported that Vergara talked about facing public scrutiny after her divorce from Manganiello. She shared that since she is a celebrity, she expected the media attention, acknowledging that it is an inevitable aspect of being in the public eye. In her words:
"You're out there, and people know that's part of being a celebrity. I knew it was gonna happen. You can't hide those things."
When it came to how she handled the public attention, Vergara could only express gratitude for the respectful and considerate media coverage she received.
"It wasn't bad. I think, you know, I have to say the press was very respectful and very nice. And I thought that they were gonna invent more things, and you know how it usually is. I was surprised and, you know, they, they kind of just said what it was and, and that was it," the Colombian-American said.
Vergara and Manganiello first met at the 2014 White House Correspondents' Association dinner, where they were introduced by the former's "Modern Family" co-star Jesse Tyler Ferguson. However, nothing came out of it due to Vergara's engagement to Nick Loeb.
Things quickly changed after she announced their breakup a few weeks later, prompting Manganiello to ask for her number from Ferguson eagerly. After a few months of dating, the "Magic Mike" star proposed on December 24, 2014, during a Christmas vacation at the St. Regis Hotel in Hawaii.
The couple exchanged vows on November 22, 2015, in a beautiful ceremony at the Breakers Resort in Palm Beach, Florida.
