Strijd and van Leeuwen first met in their hometown of Zoetermeer in the Netherlands. The couple got engaged in 2018, and in 2019, they announced that they were expecting their first child. They later welcomed a daughter named Mint van Leeuwen in May 2020. Strijd then gave birth to their second daughter, June van Leeuwen in November 2022.
