Former Dallas Cowboys player and current NFL analyst Michael Irvin is under criminal investigation by the Allen, Texas Police Department.

The investigation comes nearly one year after a woman complained about an incident involving Irvin’s behavior during an encounter in Arizona. Following the allegations, NFL Network pulled the former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Michael Irvin from Super Bowl coverage.

It is unclear exactly what the "misconduct" allegations are regarding, but Allen PD Public Information Officer Jonathan Maness confirmed it exists and is still "very early in the investigation".

As previously reported, Michael Irvin was accused of having bad conduct with a woman in the lobby of the hotel after he had a night out in Glendale in February.

A witness seemed to back Irvin's story, who claimed he did nothing wrong.

“It was very distinct,” Bryn Davis recalled of the incident. “I remember where his hands were, because I remember thinking he was in good shape for an almost 60-year-old guy. He leaned over, shook her hand, and I am telling you right now: That conversation was [about] 30 seconds. If it was a minute, I would be shocked. I think 30 seconds. Just a normal back-and-forth. … Michael walks toward the elevator. She goes back into the restaurant, and everything is as normal as could possibly be. And that’s it.”

Another witness, Phil Watkins corroborated both Irvin's and Davis's stories, telling TMZ, “It was a positive, friendly conversation. They had a brief interaction- it was 30, 40 seconds- he kept his distance at all times, stood about a meter away from her, they ended with a handshake, and he literally turned around and went back to the lift.”

Following the allegations, Irvin spoke out, stating, “Honestly, I’m a bit baffled with it all. This all happened in a 45-second conversation in the lobby. When I got back after going out … I came into the lobby, and I talked to somebody. I talked to this girl. I don’t know her, and I talked to her for about 45 seconds.”

The former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver filed a $100 million lawsuit against the woman who accused him of misconduct, as Irvin claimed the woman “concocted a plan to turn him into the next victim of ‘cancel culture’ over something he says never happened."
