The actor, who is best known for his role as Chandler Bing on the hit television sitcom, 'Friends', had detailed his struggles with drug and alcohol addiction, some of which occurred during the filming of 'Friends' and continued for years beyond, which Perry confirmed.

He also discussed his experience with Ketamine therapy in the 2022 book.

Perry's addiction was reportedly so bad that a source, who came forward shortly after his death, claims that the actor drove under the influence on multiple occasions. The bombshell report even claims the actor crashed his luxury sports car.

According to the source, Perry "crashed his Aston Martin many times while high." Luckily, the alleged accidents did not result in any serious injuries, but the source claims the accidents occurred during a time in which Perry claimed to be sober.

“He just damaged the car and no one was hurt, [but] he did not consider [that] he could have killed someone," the source told US Magazine.

Sources claimed Perry was not sober while promoting his memoir and that he just "wanted to sell books," however, it should be noted that the actor was adamant he was 19 months clean at the time.

"Everything was crafted and manipulated; the truth wasn’t important,” the source claimed.

Matthew Perry had struggled with addiction for most of his life, which he detailed in his book.

"I think when something like addiction gets hold of you, it is a literal death grip. It's a terrible thing, 'cause you're subjected to all your whims, and not really your own anymore," Perry had stated regarding his history of addiction.

According to Perry’s autopsy report, Perry died from "acute effects of the drug Ketamine." The report noted that Perry was utilizing Ketamine therapy at the time of his death for anxiety and depression, however, his last known treatment overseen by a medical professional was over one week before he passed. The drug's half-life only lasts a few hours, so the report states that the Ketamine found in Perry's system could not have been from the Ketamine therapy Perry was receiving at the time.

In other words, he might have been abusing the drug.

Investigators noted that “the exact method of intake of the drug found in his system is “unknown.”

In his 2022 memoir, Matthew Perry talked about the drug, Ketamine, detailing when he was going through ketamine therapy and how “ketamine was a very popular street drug in the 1980s."

However, Perry also noted that “there is a synthetic form of it now, and it’s used for two reasons: to ease pain and help with depression.”

He added that ketamine “has my name written all over it — they might as well have called it ‘Matty’.”

It has been confirmed that the late actor had gone through Ketamine therapy for anxiety and depression before his death last year, but it is important to note that it remains unclear if Perry was abusing drugs at the time of his death.
