Golden Globes host Jo Koy has addressed Taylor Swift's reaction to his NFL joke, which has caused a lot of buzz online for how "awkward" it was.
The singer, who is presently dating Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, looked unamused when the comedian made a comment about the Golden Globes giving her less screen time than the NFL.
Koy's joke has since been met with mixed reactions, with some football fans siding with him, while Swifties have called him out on it.
Jo Koy Addresses Taylor Swift's Stoic Reaction To His Joke
Koy has finally reacted to Swift's cold reception of his NFL joke. While hosting the 2024 Golden Globe awards, the stand-up comedian made a quip about the football organization's coverage of Swift whenever she attends the Chiefs games to cheer on her boyfriend, Kelce.
Speaking in a chat with Entertainment Tonight, Koy said, "Aww, man, it was cute. I was just saying it was cute. I was just saying it's less cutaways, that's all."
The comedian had compared the NFL constantly cutting to Swift during football games to the award show. He said, "As you know, we came on after a football doubleheader. The big difference between the Golden Globes and the NFL? On the Golden Globes, we have fewer camera shots of Taylor Swift, I swear."
After Koy's joke, the camera cut straight to Swift, who looked unamused at the joke as she took a sip of her drink. As the joke did not land well with Swift or the audience, Koy apologized and moved on.

Koy's joke fell flat during the award show and received a mixed reception from fans who watched the ceremony.
Swifties were quick to defend their favorite pop star's reaction, but Koy seemed to find favor with football fans, who felt the NFL's coverage of Swift during Chiefs games was too much.
A fan of the singer wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, "Time to pick another host, he's making the poor girl uncomfortable."
Another said, "Someone needs to get this host off the stage… I'm getting bad secondhand embarrassment."
A third person stated, "When are men gonna realize these jokes are not funny… [?]"
On the other hand, football fans found Koy's joke funny and factual.
"I get the point he was making because I was a fan of football that got tired of seeing her and hearing about [her] in halftime reports and week football game wrap-ups. She's not football," one disgruntled person wrote on X.
Another said, "People were upset because his joke was actually the truth."
Taylor Swift Speaks On The NFL's Coverage Of Her
During an interview with Time, the "Welcome To New York" singer addressed the NFL's coverage of her appearances at the Kansas City Chiefs games to support Kelce.
Swift said, "I don't know how they know what suite I'm in. There's a camera, like, a half-mile away, and you don't know when the camera is putting you in the broadcast, so I don't know if I'm being shown 17 times or once."
The Grammy-award-winning singer noted that her intention at the games is purely to "support Travis."
"I have no awareness of if I'm being shown too much and possibly pissing off a few dads, Brads, and Chads," She added noted.
In October 2023, Kelce, on his podcast "New Heights," also commented on the NFL's coverage of his girlfriend, saying that they were "overdoing it."
"I think it's fun when they show who all is at the game. I think it brings a little bit more to the atmosphere, brings a little bit more to what you're watching," Kelce said. "But at the same time, they're overdoing it a little bit for sure… especially my situation. I think they're trying to have fun with it."
How Taylor Swift And Travis Kelce Began Dating
In a candid chat with the Wall Street Journal, Kelce shared the real story about the start of his romance with the "I Knew You Were Trouble" singer.
Swift's shocking appearance at one of his games, where she was seated next to the football player's mother, Donna Kelce, confirmed the romance rumors swirling online.
"I don't know if I want to get into all of it," Kelce told the publication before recalling his initial attempt to get the singer's attention, which involved him making her a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it while at one of her Eras Tour shows in July.
"There were definitely people she knew that knew who I was, in her corner [who said]: 'Yo! Did you know he was coming? I had somebody playing Cupid,'" the 34-year-old shared. He added that he learned of this from Swift herself after she reached out to him.
Kelce continued, "She told me exactly what was going on and how I got lucky enough to get her to reach out."
On his first meeting with Swift, he said, "When I met her in New York, we had already kind of been talking, so I knew we could have a nice dinner and, like, a conversation, and what goes from there will go from there."
