Donald Trump Confirms His Mother-In-Law's Illness
Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump has confirmed speculations about the health status of his mother-in-law, Amalija Knav.
In a video of him speaking to a gathering of his supporters outside of his Palm Beach, Florida, estate, Trump revealed that the septuagenarian is "very ill." Although he didn't disclose the ailment she was suffering from, he wished her a speedy recovery and confirmed he had just finished speaking on the phone with his wife, Melania Trump, who was currently with Knav at a hospital in Miami.
"Hopefully she'll be recovering," Trump said of his mother-in-law, per Page Six. "Hopefully, that'll be OK, but it's a tough one, a very tough one."
The billionaire mogul additionally conveyed that his wife "sends her love" to the supporters who came around to usher in the new year.
"She knows probably about 95 percent of the people in this room," he further remarked. "We just want to wish Amalija that she gets better as quickly as possible."
Melania Trump Was Absent From The Family's Christmas Celebration
It comes after a source confirmed that Melania spent the Christmas celebration with her mother instead of the Trump family.
"Melania has always been very devoted to her entire family," a source close to the former first lady told the publication. "It should be no surprise that she spent this Christmas with her ailing mother."
Melania's decision led to her absence from a Trump family Christmas celebration hosted at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach. A picture of the family enjoying the day at the luxury resort club also made its way to social media, which initially raised questions about her whereabouts.
In attendance at the family outing were Kimberly Guilfoyle, the fiancée of Donald Trump Jr., former President Donald Trump; Ivanka Trump, her husband Jared Kushner and their kids; Tiffany Trump and her husband Michael Boulos; and Trump Jr.
Donald Trump's Race To The White House
With 2024 already here, Trump is expected to go full throttle on his campaign to make a possible White House comeback. He announced his plans to reclaim the Oval Office back in November during an event at the ballroom of his Mar-a-Lago resort.
"America's comeback starts right now. We have always known that this was not the end. It was only the beginning of our fight to rescue the American dream," Trump said at the time to attendees at his candidacy announcement, per NBC.
Trump continued. "In order to make America great and glorious again, I am tonight announcing my candidacy for president of the United States."
During the event, he also took a shot at President Joe Biden while promising to repeal some of his initiatives.
"Joe Biden is the face of left-wing failure and Washington corruption," Trump added. "I will ensure that Joe Biden does not receive four more years. ... Our country could not take that."
Recent Polls Reveal Donald Trump Is Leading Joe Biden In Seven Swing States
A few weeks ago, reports from a poll taken across seven swing states revealed that Trump is edging out Biden in the race to the Oval Office, per the Independent.
According to the poll, "Trump leads by three percent in Arizona, by seven points in Georgia, by four points in Michigan, by five points in Nevada, by 11 points in North Carolina, by a single point in Pennsylvania, and by six points in Wisconsin."
Altogether, this resulted in Trump having 47% of the seven swing states to 42 percent of Biden's.
Trump's wife is also expected to take on more "diplomatic appearances" during his re-election campaign to boost his candidacy further. Such a decision would see her attend MAGA rallies, Super PAC dinners, and other campaign events ahead of the 2024 presidential election.
"Trump and his family are so secure that he will become president again that insiders at Mar-a-Lago say he's reached an agreement with [wife] Melania [Trump] to step up top-tier diplomatic appearances in 2024," an insider told Page Six.
