A possible reunion between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, and King Charles III might be on the way.
According to recent reports, this comes weeks after the couple reached out to the monarch on a call during his 75th birthday, although they were absent at the festivities.
Sources have now claimed that the duo know that they need the King and his blessing more and are willing to make a move to reunite with him next year.
Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Need King Charles III And His Blessing
Harry and Meghan were absent from this year's festivities at King Charles's residence in Sandringham despite initial speculations that they were open to coming over.
Now, according to a royal author, Ingrid Seward, the duo are allegedly planning to reunite with the monarch next year in a bid to end the long-term feud between their families.
In an interview with GB News, Seward claimed that the duo were making the move because they were aware that "they need the King and his blessing far more than the King needs them."
He also mentioned that a possible meeting between both parties next year would be an opportunity for King Charles to see his grandchildren, Archie and Lilibet, once again.
"Obviously, King Charles wants to see his son and his grandchildren, and last summer, he apparently invited them to Balmoral, which they turned down," Seward told the publication, per The Mirror.
Harry And Meghan Called King Charles III On His 75th Birthday
News of Harry and Meghan's plans to reunite with King Charles comes after they first reached out to him via a phone call on his 75th birthday. Their warm conversation reportedly marked a "turning point" in their relationship with him and was seen as an initial effort to rebuild ties with the monarch.
Besides Harry and Meghan talking to the King, their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, also sent their birthday wishes to their grandfather. They did so through a pre-recorded video where they were seen singing "Happy Birthday."
Harry and Meghan were not present at the royal festivities despite reaching out to the monarch. At the time, it was claimed that the duo did not receive an invitation from The Firm.
For their proposed visit, it is still being determined when that would happen. However, past reports have suggested that it could take place at the King's home in Scotland, without the presence of Harry's brother, Prince William.
When Last Did Harry & Meghan See King Charles III?
The last time the Sussexes saw the King was at the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II last September.
One day after the funeral, the couple returned to their Montecito residence by public flight after being allegedly denied permission to travel back on the Air Force One plane with U.S. President Joe Biden and his wife, Jill.
It was reported that granting such a request "would have caused a commotion" and "strained relations with the palace," per Page Six.
Almost a year later, Harry went to his father's coronation, but Meghan stayed in California with the kids. It was suggested that Meghan wasn't there because it was Archie's birthday on the same day as the coronation.
While visiting, Harry didn't join the balcony event after the church ceremony; instead, he left right away for the airport.
The Fab Four Are Still Feuding
Though Harry and Meghan's relationship with King Charles may be on the mend, the same can't be said of their relationship with Prince William and his wife, Kate Middleton.
Earlier reports claimed that the relationship between both parties is nonexistent, having declined steadily since Harry and Meghan opted to step back from their roles in the royal family in 2020.
It was also alleged that William was one of those who actively tried to undermine the Sussexes by releasing information about them to the media.
Since the rumors swirled online, several sources close to William have refuted the allegations, saying that they contradict the persona of the heir apparent to the British throne.
"[Prince William] has always been very tight-lipped when it comes to his family and made clear to anyone within his orbit that he would not do 'deals' with the media," they said, per Daily Mail.
Recently, a source told People Magazine that Kate and William have "moved on" from their feud with Harry and Meghan. Whether this means there is room for reconciliation between the fab four is yet to be seen.
