Cher has filed for a conservatorship of son Elijah Blue Allman, claiming he is unable to care for himself due to a massive drug addiction.

The development comes after rumors swirled that she had kidnapped her son in an attempt to save him due to his history of substance abuse.

According to legal documents obtained by The Blast, Cher is filing to be the sole conservator of her son's estate, claiming that a conservator of the estate is needed because Elijah is "substantially unable to manage his own financial resources."

Cher is taking serious steps to take control of her son Elijah's estate, claiming that the 47-year-old is unable to manage it.

The legal document reads that "[Cher] has been unable to discuss Elijah's preferences concerning the appointment of a temporary conservator because given Elijah's current mental and physical health issues, discussed in detail in the concurrently filed Confidential Supplemental Information, he is unable to form or express a preference concerning the appointment of a conservator for his estate."

The singer's lawsuit states that she's worried Elijah will spend his money on drugs due to his ongoing mental health and substance abuse issues.

The document reads, "[Cher] is concerned that any funds distributed to Elijah will immediately be spent on drugs, leaving Elijah with no assets to provide for himself and putting Elijah's life at risk."

Elijah himself is in the midst of a divorce from his estranged wife, Marieangela King, who previously accused Cher of kidnapping her son when they were attempting to reunite to fix their marriage.

King has also accused Cher of "interfering" in her son's health management and blocking her from accessing her properties.

In the "Believe" singer's legal filing, she claimed that her son and his wife were estranged and their "tumultuous relationship has been marked by a cycle of drug addiction and mental health crises."

The document reads, "[Cher] is informed and believes that Angela is not supportive of Elijah's recovery and that Angela actively works to keep Elijah from getting clean and sober or receiving mental health treatment that he desperately needs. Most recently, [Cher] is informed and believes that Angela took steps to check Elijah out of the treatment center where he was receiving much needed medical care."

The "Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again" star noted that due to the couple's ongoing divorce procedures, "Angela is not entitled to appointment as conservator of Elijah's estate unless the court finds, by clear and convincing evidence, that such [an] appointment would be in Elijah's best interest."

Cher alleged that an appointment of King as conservator would be "unsafe" and to the detriment of Elijah and his estate.

"Indeed, it would be unsafe for Elijah and his estate because [Cher] is informed and believes that the appointment of Angela as conservator of Elijah's estate would result in the immediate loss or dissipation of Elijah's assets for self-destructive purposes," the court document states.

During a chat with People magazine, Cher shut down the claim about her kidnapping her son, saying it was "not true." She then talked about her worries as a mother and why she would do everything she could to help Elijah.

"I'm not suffering from any problem that millions of people in the United States aren't," Cher told the news outlet about her son's battle with substance abuse.

The singer continued, "I'm a mother. This is my job — one way or another, to try to help my children. You do anything for your children. Whenever you can help them, you just do it because that's what being a mother is. But it's joy, even with heartache — mostly, when you think of your children, you just smile and you love them, and you try to be there for them."

Cher had Elijah during her relationship with singer Gregg Allman and her first son Chaz Bono, 54, from her marriage to Sonny Bono.
