Charlie Sheen has been granted a criminal protective order against his female neighbor who allegedly choked him during a dispute at his home in Los Angeles.
According to legal documents obtained by The Blast, the violent neighbor was charged with a felony for the incident and was arraigned at the Van Nuys Courthouse.
Charlie Sheen Receives Criminal Protective Order
During the hearing, the "Two and a Half Men" star was given a criminal protective order issued by a court. Unlike restraining orders that have an expiration date, a criminal protective order means Sheen's neighbor must completely stay away from him and his place of residence until further notice.
In addition, the neighbor, whose name we have withheld, pleaded not guilty to her felony charge during her arraignment earlier today. Bail was set at $75,000. Her preliminary hearing is set for August 1, 2024.
As we previously reported, the woman was charged with a felony for "Assault With Deadly Weapon With Force: Possible Great Bodily Injury." The charge carries a maximum sentence of four years in prison so things aren't looking good for her.
The alleged incident took place on December 20 when the 47-year-old neighbor forced her way into Sheen's home and attacked him immediately after he opened the door. According to law enforcement officials, the neighbor allegedly ripped the actor's shirt and attempted to choke him during the dispute.
Afterwards, she returned to her home where she was later arrested and booked for assault with a deadly weapon and burglary. Per reports, Sheen made the call to 911, with officers and paramedics showing up to the scene. Luckily, he didn't have to be taken to the hospital for any serious injuries.
Unfortunately, this isn't Sheen's alleged first debacle with the violent neighbor. The "Anger Management" actor told authorities that he believed his female neighbor had squirted a sticky liquid on his car before. Sources also claimed he spoke to her after the car incident, wanting them to hash it out and remain cordial.
However, that didn't happen as the woman allegedly dumped trash in front of the 58-year-old's door a day before the attack, leading him to call 911.
Charlie Sheen Is Proudly Sober For Six Years
The unsavory incident occurred on the heels of Sheen's sixth sobriety anniversary. Earlier this month, the New York native marked an impressive milestone of being sober for six years and the achievement was publicity celebrated by his childhood friend, Tony Todd.
"Congrats to my buddy Charlie Sheen. You made the decision to change your life one day at a time six years ago today. I am so proud of you. Happy Sobriety Day!" Todd told The Blast.
It is no news that Sheen struggled with drug and alcohol addiction for years, which even resulted in his controversial exit from "Two and a Half Men."
In a previous interview, the award-winning actor opened up about his addiction struggles, saying, "I loved drinking in the morning. I loved drinking in the morning." However, it wasn't until they began to affect his role as a father that he took the step to turn his life around.
"One morning I'd forgotten my daughter had an appointment I’d promised to drive her to, and I’d already had a couple of pops that day," he recalled of his daughter Sami Sheen whom he shares with his ex-wife Denise Richards.
Sheen continued, "So had to call my friend Tony [Todd] to take us. We got her there on time, but it broke my heart because she was in the backseat and I could just tell she was thinking, 'Why isn’t dad driving?' So I got home and sat with that for the rest of the day. And the next morning I just stopped."
The "Platoon" star took the unusual route and went cold turkey. He explained that it was quite the struggle during the first month, but he rode the wave and has been sober ever since.
"I think the first month I was like, I'm going to have to give it a month, just see if I feel any better, and if my interactions with those that are closest to me improve. And they did. And I'm like, all right, I'm going to go another month. And then it got traction. I had momentum," he divulged.
