After years of struggling with drug and alcohol addiction, the “Platoon” actor recently celebrated a sobriety milestone.

When speaking on his past addiction struggles, the 'Two and A Half Men' actor stated, “I loved drinking in the morning. Loved some scotch in the coffee.”

His addiction struggles were so bad that they began affecting his personal life and his responsibility as a father. “One morning I’d forgotten my daughter had an appointment I’d promised to drive her to, and I’d already had a couple of pops that day,” he said of his daughter, whom he had with his ex-wife Denise Richards.

Sheen’s childhood friend, Tony Todd was there for him at the time, helping him overcome his addiction struggles. “So, I had to call my friend Tony [Todd] to take us. We got her there on time, but it broke my heart because she was in the backseat and I could just tell she was thinking, ‘Why isn’t dad driving?’ So I got home and sat with that for the rest of the day. And the next morning I just stopped,” he told the outlet.

Sheen quit drinking cold turkey, and although the first month was difficult, he waited it out and has been sober ever since. “I think the first month I was like, I’m going to have to give it a month, just see if I feel any better, and if my interactions with those that are closest to me improve,” he explained. “And they did. And I’m like, all right, I’m going to go another month. And then it got traction. I had momentum.”

“There was just instant evidence that this was the side I needed to be on,” he said, adding, “I couldn’t be in denial about it anymore.”

Todd recently expressed how proud he is of the 58-year-old Hollywood legend for being six years sober, telling The Blast how huge a milestone it is for the actor.
