President Joe Biden has finally broken his silence on Donald Trump's shocking ban from the state of Colorado's presidential ballot.
The Colorado state Supreme Court ruled yesterday that the former president has been banned due to his alleged involvement and support of an "insurrection."
Joe Biden Claims Donald Trump' Certainly Supported An Insurrection'
President Joe Biden broke his silence regarding his predecessor's getting an unfavorable decision regarding a court case about whether he should be allowed to appear on Colarado's ballot for the 2024 presidential election.
Speaking with reporters, the current POTUS responded to questions about whether Trump should be deemed as an "insurrectionist" due to his involvement in the events that led to the Capitol riot.
"Well, I think that was certainly self-evident. You saw it all," Biden said.
Biden went on to say that it was left to the court to make the decision on whether the 14th Amendment applies. The amendment in question stops anyone who swore an oath to support the Constitution and then "engaged in insurrection" from being elected into office.
He then reiterated that, in his own opinion, Trump "certainly supported an insurrection," adding that he "seems to be doubling down on just about everything."
Colorado's Supreme Court Verdict Was Based On The 14tg Amendment
It comes after four out of seven of Colorado's state Supreme Court justices voted to block Trump from the ballot on the basis of the 14th Amendment. In their ruling, they stated that significant evidence pointed to the former president taking on an insurrectionist role, which barred him from the ballot.
"A majority of the court holds that President Trump is disqualified from holding the office of President under Section Three of the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution," read the majority ruling
It continued, "Because he is disqualified, it would be a wrongful act under the Election Code for the Colorado Secretary of State to list him as a candidate on the presidential primary ballot."
Meanwhile, Justice Carlos Samour, a minority voice, expressed that the ruling contradicts the former president's right to "due process" and does not align with typical courtroom proceedings.
Chief Justice Boatright, also dissenting, emphasized that the lawsuit challenging Trump's eligibility in Colorado elections was based on a state election code section not intended to determine whether a candidate participated in an insurrection.
Donald Trump Aired His Disagreement With The Court Verdict
Following the ruling, Trump's lawyer, Alina Habba, voiced the former president's dissatisfaction in a statement that also noted his client's intention to appeal the case to the US Supreme Court.
"This ruling, issued by the Colorado Supreme Court, attacks the very heart of this nation's democracy," the attorney said. "It will not stand, and we trust that the Supreme Court will reverse this unconstitutional order."
Trump himself also slammed the ruling on his Truth social page, claiming it was "election interference" and accusing the Democrats of being "scared" that he would become the POTUS again in 2024.
"Tonight, America is seeing the ultimate – in ELECTION INTERFERENCE," Trump said on the platform shortly after the verdict. "IT IS NOT GOOD FOR OUR COUNTRY, AT ALL.."
He added: "They don't want the voters to decide this. There is obviously this deep fear of Donald Trump potentially winning the White House back…"
If the US Supreme Court upholds the Colorado court ruling, it could spell the end of Trump's campaign because their decision would apply not just in Colorado but to all states.
Donald Trump Question's President Joe Biden's Christian Fate
During a recent rally, Trump took a jab at Biden's Christian fate, claiming to a crowd of supporters that the president has never mentioned "Jesus Christ" during the lighting of the Christmas tree. He went on to note that during his time in office, he made sure to mention "Jesus Christ" as the reason for the holiday.
Trump said, "He didn't mention Jesus Christ in his remarks, not for three years he hasn't mentioned that and barely mentioned God."
He added, "When I lit the Christmas tree each year, it was my honor to publicly celebrate the true source of Christmas joy, which is Jesus Christ... As president, I kept every promise I made to Christians and more, and I think everybody in this room understands that very well. It's pretty well documented."
Biden shared a brief message during this year's tree lighting. He said, "to open the hearts with simple acts of kindness; and to strengthen the bonds with family and friends, as well as with our faith and our community."
The 2024 presidential election has been scheduled for November 5. With the recent ruling in Colorado, Trump's hopes of returning to the White House have been stifled.
