Former Marvel star Jonathan Majors' high-profile domestic violence trial recently concluded, with the actor being found guilty of two of the four charges brought against him.

The actor is scheduled to be sentenced on February 6 and could face up to a year in prison for reckless assault in the third degree. However, it is now speculated that he may not face jail time when his sentencing date arrives.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Majors could still avoid jail time despite being convicted in his domestic violence trial. The actor was arrested in March following an incident with his then-girlfriend Grace Jabbari, which resulted in charges being brought against him at the time.

Majors was ultimately found guilty of two of the four charges: reckless assault in the third degree and harassment in the second degree, which carries a maximum sentence of one year in jail. However, it is believed that the actor's lack of prior criminal conviction may influence the judge not to throw the book at him when he is sentenced on February 6.

"Since it's the defendant's first conviction, although technically he faces one year of jail, the judge will 99 percent give him three years of probation, anger management, and possibly some community service. Mr. Majors is not getting jail time," Mahattan-based criminal defense attorney Cary London told the publication.

Despite the possibility of a reduced sentence for Majors, the tarnishing of his previously clean record as a result of the guilty verdict may prompt him to consider filing an appeal.

It comes after Major's attorneys slammed the verdict, saying they were "disappointed" because they thought they had done enough to persuade the jury of their client's innocence.

"Mr. Majors is grateful to God, his family, his friends, and his fans for their love and support during these harrowing eight months," said Majors' lead lawyer, Priya Chaudhry, in a statement after the closing of the trail, per Deadline.

She added, "Mr. Majors still has faith in the process and looks forward to fully clearing his name."

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Majors' defense team might file an appeal on the basis that text evidence not directly related to the case was introduced due to a reversed Molineux ruling during the court trial.

A source told the publication, "Obviously, this kind of thing can sound very bad to a jury, and Majors may argue that the jury should not have heard about them, especially since they were not specifically discussing the assault he was on trial for."

Majors' career has already suffered as a result of the trial, with the most recent setback being his removal from Marvel projects.

Prior to his legal troubles, the actor portrayed the mysterious character Kang the Conqueror in two Marvel films, "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania" and "Loki." His role was expected to be more prominent in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's upcoming film projects, specifically "Avengers: The Kang Dynasty" and "Avengers: Secret Wars."

However, following his conviction, Marvel cut ties with the actor, most likely to distance themselves from the potential negative impact of his legal troubles on their public image and future projects.

Previously, the actor had lost other partnerships and deals. He was dropped from a film adaptation of Walter Mosley's 2004 novel "The Man in My Basement." Negotiations for his role in a biopic about late musician Otis Redding also fell through, and he was dropped from an advertisement campaign for the Texas Rangers MLB team.

Amid the challenges, Majors has found solace in his relationship with Meagan Good. The couple were first linked in May after being spotted on a movie date.

They subsequently made several public outings before addressing the nature of their relationship at the Congressional Black Caucus' eighth annual Black and White Gala in September 2023. During the event, Majors affectionately referred to Good as "the missus," while Good endearingly called him "babe."

Throughout the actor's court trial, Good stood by Majors' side, publicly supporting him. She was also present during his pre-trial hearing at Manhattan Criminal Court back in August.

A day after Majors was convicted of assault and harassment charges, he and Good left New York City for Los Angeles, as seen in photos, although the purpose of their visit remains unclear.
