Hollywood actress Sydney Sweeney has revealed that she struggled with her body image in her high school days and hoped to have a breast reduction procedure.
The 26-year-old starlet disclosed that her mom's advice not to do it prevented her from the act, revealing that she now sees the prominent body part as her "best friend."
Sydney Sweeney Almost Underwent Breast Reduction
In an interview with Glamour UK, the "Euphoria" actress opened up about the pressures and insecurities she faced during her teenage years, particularly regarding her bust size. Sweeney revealed that she considered breast reduction as a way to alleviate the discomfort she felt about her body when she clocked 18, but for her mom, who warned her against it.
"When I was in high school, I used to feel uncomfortable about how big my boobs were, and I used to say that when I turned 18, I was going to get to make them smaller," Sweeney recounted.
She continued, "And my mom told me, 'Don't do it. You'll regret it in college.' And I'm so glad I didn't. I like them. They're my best friends."
Sydney Sweeney Encourages Body Positivity
Elsewhere in her interview with the news outlet, Sweeney, who grew up in the Idaho Panhandle, went on to encourage body positivity as she challenged conventional beauty norms and encouraged folks to embrace their uniqueness.
"The White Lotus" actress said, "Everybody's body is beautiful," but noted that internal confidence and happiness is what makes it "really shows to other people." She added that her attitude to her own endowments is "Flaunt what you got. Own it. Love them."
The busty blonde reflected, "I went through that process of covering my body up at such a young age, but once I became more confident with myself, it changed.
"I want to show girls that it's amazing and beautiful and empowering to have the bodies that we have," she added.
She Addressed The Rumored Romance With Glen Powell
The Hollywood pinup went on to confront the persistent rumors surrounding an alleged on-set affair with co-star Glen Powell during the making of their upcoming romantic comedy, "Anyone But You."
The rumors, which had swirled within entertainment circles and on social media, have led many to question whether the buzz itself had been a calculated publicity stunt to generate interest in the forthcoming film.
Sweeney candidly acknowledged the existence of the rumors and the subsequent impact on her personal and professional life. She emphasized that she and Powell had been affected by the incessant chatter and online speculation, as she noted it was all "drama" made by the press.
"It was really hard on Glen, which made me sad… because [otherwise] it was such a beautiful experience for the both of us," she said. "I care for him so much."
"Also, I've never really shared that much [about my relationship], so the press loves to create drama in stories," Sweeney added.
Sydney Sweeney Comes Clean On Her Love Life
To dispel ongoing misinformation about her personal life, the actress decided to set the record straight about her relationship with Jonathan Davino. Sweeney, who has been notably private about her personal life, noted that the reason for the silence about her relationship was to "keep something for" her.
"Everyone is always so curious about who I'm with and what's that like, but I think it's important to have something for me. I'm very open [otherwise]. I talk about so much, and sometimes it gets me in trouble, but I do try to keep something for me," she said.
In her interview with Glamour UK, she decided to fact-check and provide clarity on the status of her romance with Davino. She affirmed that his name is Jonathan Davino, and he's 38, but "he's not a restaurateur," as previously circulated.
"I have no idea where that came from. He's also not the heir of a pizza company. He's a business guy. He's from Chicago. We've been watching [this narrative] for six years now, and I'm like, 'What the hell?'" she clarified.
Sweeney went on, "I've been in a steady relationship for a really long time, which is not normal in this industry and not normal for my age. What I've noticed about the idea of celebrity is people really love to build someone up, and then tear them down."
