In the midst of the #MeToo movement and Time's Up, actress Emmy Rossum wants to open up the conversation in Hollywood about sex on screen.

The "Shameless" star tweeted yesterday calling on the guild (SAG-AFTRA) to review protocols for actors who perform scenes on film that simulate sex and contain nudity.

Unlike most any other industry, actors and actresses do have to bring sex into the office and Rossum knows a thing or two about sexualization on screen. Fiona, the character she plays on Showtime's hit "Shameless," has frequent nude and sex scenes.

Many people responded to the star's tweet trying to call her out for her engagement in sexuality on screen but other's came to her defense, saying they missed the point.

This isn't the first time Rossum is standing up for issues in Hollywood. In 2016 she famously fought and won a higher salary than her co-star William H. Macy who was paid more than she was for the previous seasons of the show. In an interview with Vulture, Macy said, "who’s the center of the show? It’s Fiona. Of course she should get paid.”

Rossum's plea to the guild, which is the labor union for workers across all types of media, falls in step with the rampant accusations of sexual misconduct in Hollywood.

Misconduct surrounding sex scenes in Hollywood may happen more than you think, as reported by The Blast last year, Harvey Weinstein was accused of engaging in sexual assault and harassment in a class action lawsuit under the auspices of casting sex scenes.

We've reached out to SAG-AFTRA for comment.
