Last night's NAACP Image Awards were an evening of poignant messages, incredible talent and style with a capital S.

Singer Andra Day channeled superstar Rihanna in her free-the-nipple sheer, metallic Giorgio Armani dress.

The double nominee's glowing skin, smokey eyes and finger-waved hair even reminded us of RiRi's beauty look - you know the one - the Swarovski encrusted Adam Selman dress from 2014 when Rihanna received the Style Icon Award at the CFDA's.

Halle Berry stunned, as she is known to do, in a barely-there dark lace Reem Acra gown that required one hell of a wax and some serious double-sided tape.

But, obviously, it wasn't all about the style.

Ava DuVernay was named entertainer of the year and made an impassioned speech on being "the dream" in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., which was appropriate since it was MLK Day.

Other big winners of the night included "Girls Trip," Daniel Kaluuya for "Get Out," Starz hit "Power," tv comedy"black-ish" and star Tracee Ellis Ross.

Also during the show, Ross was joined by Kerry Washington, Laverne Cox, Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Lena Waithe and Angela Robinson walked on stage in solidarity and made a plea for people to mobilize and vote in the upcoming midterm elections.
