Even though pop star Britney Speras has said that she has "moved on" from events that she described in her memoir, "The Woman In Me," it appears that she and her ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake are not on good terms.
In her tell-all book, the "Gimme More" singer reflected on allegations of infidelity and even an unplanned pregnancy. The pop star claimed that the "Mirrors" singer didn’t feel ready to be a father when the former couple dated from 1999 to 2002.
Although the book came out in October, Justin did not address the book until mid-December, when he said "no disrespect" before singing their breakup anthem, "Cry Me A River." Britney took to Instagram the following day to claim that someone used to cry when she beat him at basketball - but "no disrespect."

On Friday night, the “Toxic” singer took to Instagram to share a video from her music video. “Oh Jesus Christ, the stories … I could tell on the set of this one☝🏻 !!! There’s always more to the story and that’s not even half of it !!! It was shot in Arizona 120-degree heat 🥵 … 2 different version videos were shot for this song … most boys say ‘OH I’M SHOOK’ !!!” she wrote in the caption.
“Psss I never mentioned how I beat him in basketball 🏀 and he would cry … no disrespect 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️ !!!” It seems that the “no disrespect” is a direct reference to Justin. During an hour-long set at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas opening, “The Social Network” actor claimed that he meant “no disrespect” when he sang the 2002 single “Cry Me A River,” which was the second single off of his debut solo album Justified.

On January 17, 2023, Britney shared a photo of her and Justin wearing matching basketball uniforms to Instagram. In the since-deleted post, Britney wrote, "When we used to shoot hoops TOGETHER … that's when miracles happened!!!"
She then added, “I came out of my mom's stomach just like we all did!!! Psss … why always cast me out ??? I'm equal as all!!!"
In her memoir, Britney said that the success of “Cry Me A River” made her feel unable to tell her side of the story when it came to their public breakup. “I felt there was no way at the time to tell my side of the story,” Britney wrote. “I couldn’t explain, because I knew no one would take my side once Justin had convinced the world of his version. I don’t think Justin realized the power he had in shaming me. I don’t think he understands to this day.”
In his own 2018 book, “Hindsight,” Justin claimed that he wrote “Cry Me A River” in two hours because he was feeling “scorned.” The music video for the song not only featured a Britney Spears lookalike playing his love interest but also alluded to infidelity.
Britney Spears Says That She Is Looking Forward To A 'Beautiful Clean Slate'
In a message posted both to X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, and Instagram, the “Mind Your Business” singer opened up about her motivation for writing “The Woman In Me” only days ahead of its official release on October 24.
“My book’s purpose was not to offend anyone by any means !!! That was me then …that is in the past !!!” she began. “I don’t like the headlines I am reading …that’s exactly why I quit the business 4 years ago !!! Most of the book is from 20 years ago … I have moved on and it’s a beautiful clean slate from here !!!”
“I am here to establish it that way for the rest of my entire life !!!” she continued. “Either way, that is the last of it and s— happens !! This is actually a book didn’t know needed to be written … although some might be offended, it has given me closure on all things for a better future !!!”

“Hopefully I can enlighten people who feel particularly alone in most cases or hurt or misunderstood !!! Again, my motive for this book was not to harp on my past experiences which is what the press is doing and it’s dumb and silly !!!” she concluded. “I have moved on since then !! #TheWomaninMe.”
Britney Spears’ tell-all memoir, “The Woman In Me,” was officially released on Tuesday, October 24, 2023.
