Diddy might be absent from this year's 2024 Grammy Awards after he was accused by several women of sexual assault.
For the upcoming 2024 Grammy Awards, Diddy, whose real name is Sean Combs was nominated for Best Progressive R&B Album for his recent project, "The Love Album: Off The Grid."
Recording Academy 'Evaluting' Diddy's Attendance At 2024 Grammys
Although Diddy was nominated for his first Grammy in eight years, his current sexual assault allegation scandal might not make him eligible to attend the award ceremony.
The Recording Academy is reportedly "evaluating" his 2024 award attendance amid the controversy that surrounds him. "We are taking this matter very seriously and we are in the process of evaluating it with the time and care that it deserves," a representative for the Recording Academy told Radar Online.
The music mogul's reputation took a nosedive after his ex-girlfriend Cassie accused him of rape, sex trafficking, and physical abuse, amongst other scathing allegations in a bombshell lawsuit.
Since then several alleged victims have come out and accused the rapper of similar despicable things. Although Diddy has maintained innocence, things continue to look bad for him in the industry.
The update from the Recording Academy comes just days after Diddy was sued for the fifth time in three weeks. The victim, who identified herself as Jane Doe was represented by Wigdor LLP, the law firm that filed Cassie's lawsuit.
In Jane Doe's lawsuit, she accused Diddy of "gang rape and sex trafficking" when she was only 17 years old. Diddy's pal and business partner, HarvePierre, the President of Bad Boy Entertainment, and a "third assailant" were co-defendants in the scathing lawsuit.
The anonymous victim claimed that it began when "Mr. Pierre approached her at a lounge in Michigan, near to where she was living at the time, and told her that he was 'best friends' with Mr. Combs. He proceeded to call Mr. Combs, who was in New York City."
Upon receiving Diddy's call, the rap mogul invited Ms. Doe to join him in his New York Studio. "Mr. Combs convinced her, who was half his age at the time, to accompany Mr. Pierre and the Third Assailant on a private jet to come to his studio in New York City," the filing read.
Things, however, started spiraling out of control when the victim alleged that "Mr. Pierre smoked crack cocaine in a bathroom at the lounge, in which he also sexually assaulted her by forcing her to give him oral sex."
Upon getting to Diddy's studio "the defendants plied Ms. Doe with drugs and alcohol and viciously gang raped her, one after the other." The document continued, "As the night wore on, the 17-year-old Ms. Doe became more and more inebriated, eventually to the point that she could not possibly have consented to have sex with anyone, much someone twice her age."
According to the plaintiff, while Diddy was raping her, he complained that he could not "get off unless she pinched his nipples as hard as she could." Afterward, "Mr. Pierre took his turn at raping Ms. Doe and then violently forced her to give him oral sex, during which Ms. Doe was choking and struggling to breathe. When Mr. Pierre finished, he left Ms. Doe in the bathroom alone. Ms. Doe fell into the fetal position and lay on the floor."
The anonymous victim attached pictures of that fateful night in her lawsuit, and Douglas H. Wigdor, the founding partner of Wigdor LLP, shared a statement about the case:
“As alleged in the complaint, Defendants preyed on a vulnerable high school teenager as part of a sex trafficking scheme that involved plying her with drugs and alcohol and transporting her by private jet to New York City where she was gang raped by the three individual defendants at Mr. Combs’ studio. The depravity of these abhorrent acts has, not surprisingly, scarred our client for life.”
Diddy Says 'Enough Is Enough'
Following the new lawsuit, Diddy, who has remained quiet since the onslaught of allegations, broke his silence with a social media post. He released a statement titled "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH" to deny the allegations.
"For the last couple of weeks, I have sat silently and watched people try to assassinate my character, destroy my reputation and my legacy. Sickening allegations have been made against me by individuals looking for a quick payday," he wrote.
The "Coming Home" rapper affirmatively declared his innocence, writing, "Let me be absolutely clear: I did not do any of the awful things being alleged. I will fight for my name, my family, and for the truth."
Per reports, about 18 businesses have cut ties with Diddy since the allegations began.
