Ben Affleck's Smoking Habit Is Allegedly Causing 'Tension' Between Jennifer Lopez & Jennifer Garner

Singer Jennifer Lopez and her husband, actor Ben Affleck's co-parenting relationship with his ex-wife Jennifer Garner, reportedly faces "tension" over Affleck's smoking.

While Lopez is understanding, Garner finds it "disgusting" and imposes no-smoking rules around their kids.

According to reports, Lopez, Affleck, and Garner, who appeared to have found common ground in co-parenting their blended family, now have a potential source of "tension" – Affleck's smoking habit.

Insiders who spoke to Star Magazine (per Radar Online) claim Lopez and Garner have differing opinions on the matter.  "Jen and J Lo have very different views on it," the insider shared. "J Lo is grateful Ben is sober, and if he needs to smoke to get through the day, it's better than falling off the wagon."

However, Garner reportedly finds Affleck’s habit "disgusting" and enforces strict no-smoking rules around their kids, Violet, 17, Seraphina, 14, and Samuel, 11.

The source added, "Jen's been very good about not poking her nose into Ben’s, but this is putting her patience to the test."

Just recently, Affleck was photographed indulging in a cigarette while driving Lopez's $450,000 Rolls-Royce. Per insiders, while the “The Mother” actress may comprehend Affleck's reliance on smoking as a crutch, she reportedly wishes for him to quit the habit.

However, the “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” star appeared content as he defied the “Ain’t Your Mama” singer's wishes during the ride  with her and his 11-year-old son, Samuel, from his previous marriage with Garner,

The couple's mood shifted when they noticed photographers capturing the moment, prompting a quick change from tension to smiles for the camera.

Rumors have been circulating that Affleck and Lopez had been engaging in post-wedding arguments since 2022, with Affleck's smoking habit allegedly becoming a point of contention.

According to a source, "Jen says it bothers her to look at Ben and see he's constantly chewing his cud” and consistently using his nicotine gum.

In response, the “Gone Girl” star has reportedly limited his smoking to outdoors. "Now, Ben only smokes outside and away from Jen, and he's cut his habit way down by using nicotine gum," the insider added. "But he admits she hates all the gum-chewing as much as the actual smoking."

At the recent Elle Women in Hollywood event in Los Angeles, Lopez opened up to Entertainment Tonight about her upcoming album, “This Is Me... Now,” and the collaborative effort with her husband, Affleck, on a film project linked to the record.

The 54-year-old iconic singer said, “This project was something I didn't really plan.” She explained that the project stemmed from her unplanned inspiration, driven by her love story with Affleck and the broader romantic journey of her life.

She added, "When the music was done I just thought to myself, 'There's more of a story to be told here. There's been a bigger journey than just a love story here.' And so it became a much bigger, fuller project with an incredible message. And I realized I had to really get personal to tell it."

Lopez expressed the ease of collaboration with Affleck, stating,  "We collaborate very well together, and nobody knows my story more than he does.” She added, "So we were able to kind of sit down and really dig into it in a way that I don't think any other writer could've done with me."

During the chat, the “Hustlers” star revealed her feelings about her upcoming project, stating, "I haven't been this excited or on edge about a project in many, many years." However, she emphasized feeling secure during the creative process of collaborating with her husband.

Despite the excitement, Lopez admitted that the intimidating part is releasing the project, stating, "The scary thing is putting it out." "That's the scary part,” she emphasized.
