The Las Vegas Police Department has released video footage showing the UNLV suspect moments after the tragedy.
The video, which was shared with several news outlets, shows the suspect, Anthony Polito, being taken down by police officers outside the University of Nevada‘s Las Vegas campus before he was killed on the scene.
The footage comes after investigators revealed that the 67-year-old had a "target list," however, none of the alleged victims from the shooting were listed.
Anthony Polito Named Suspect In UNLV Shooting
Three people were killed, and a fourth individual was left with serious injuries during an attack on the University of Nevada, Las Vegas campus on Wednesday. Authorities have determined that the victims who were killed in the shooting were faculty or staff and not students.
Anthony Polito, a 67-year-old college professor, who also died on the scene, was named as the suspect shortly after the tragedy occurred. The investigation indicates Polito fired at police first, before law enforcement shot and killed him.

He is reported to have sent 22 letters “to various University personnel across the country” with no return address prior to the attack. The first letter, which contained an "unknown white powder" was intercepted by Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD). They urged anyone who had received mail similar to the intercepted letter to contact authorities.
Polito had applied for a teaching job in 2020 but was not hired, two senior law enforcement officials told NBC News. A specific motive for the shooting is still under investigation.
Students Speak Out After UNLV Shooting
Journalism student Shainna Alipon spoke to the media after the tragedy, revealing the moment she heard gunfire from inside the Student Union Building.
“We made our way down the stairs of the building just to escape, and while we were walking down, we heard even more gunshots. I said ‘oh my gosh, I hope the shooter doesn’t come to the building where we’re at,’” she told the news outlet.
Adding, “My editor-in-chief, he was kind of snapping me out of it, he was like, ‘hey can I borrow your phone? We have to take video of this; you know, we’re the press,’ and I was like, ‘oh shoot - you’re right.’ So I snapped out of it, started taking more videos, started talking to a little more people trying to see ‘hey is everyone on your end OK? What do you think is going on?’ It kind of solidified for the first time today - ‘oh I am a journalist; this is like my job.'"
Another student told the news station that he no longer feels safe on the UNLV campus.
“I don’t feel safe anymore. Finals are next week and all of our finals are supposed to be in-person,” he said.
He continued, "It just makes me feel scared for the future because it’s getting closer and closer to me, closer and closer to my family, people who I love."
